Hello Fellow Democrats,

This week I thought I would share the lyrics to a song written by Louise and Thom Hartmann. As many of you know and follow Thom Hartmann on his podcast and on Sirius/XM Radio, Progress, Channel 127, he and his wife are both musicians and have done a fine job of writing protest songs about our current situation. Back in the day Bob Dylan was the one that got us through the 60’s and early 70’s and now the Hartmann’s and others are filling those shoes. Below are the lyrics to a song entitled First They Came For… I hope you will ponder this for a bit and let it soak in and share it with your friends and family. Hartmann’s music can be found free on YouTube and on Apple Music.

First They Came For…

First they came for the communist, and I did not speak out because I was not a communist.

Then they came for the socialist, and I did not speak out because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the unionist, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.

If we stay silent the darkness will spread, turning neighbors to foe and filling hearts with dread. It’s our time to rise, it’s our time to fight for justice, for freedom. Stand in the light!

Then Trump came for the immigrants, and we did not speak out because we were not immigrants.

Then Trump came for the scientist, and we did not speak out because we were not scientists.

Then Trump came for the teachers, and we did not speak out because we were not teachers.

Then Trump came for the LGBPTQ Plus and we did not speak out because we were not LGBPTQ Plus.

Then Trump came for the dissenters, and we did not speak out because we were not dissenters.

Then he came for us, and there was no one left to speak for us.

If we stay silent the darkness will spread, turning neighbor to foe filling hearts with dread.

It’s our time to rise, it’s our time to fight for justice, for freedom.

Stand in the light!

The lines have been drawn; we all have a choice to stay in silence or lift up our voice.

The echoes of history, they call out again. Will we speak for the voiceless or let silence win?

If we stay silent the darkness will spread turning neighbor to foe filling hearts with dread.

It’s our time to rise, it’s our time to fight for justice, for freedom. Stand in the light!

Then they came for me. This time I will speak for the world we live in.

The strong protect the weak! The strong protect the weak!

I sincerely hope this song helps to motivate you, especially if you have yet to see the importance of being active in the Party. Whether it is participating in a demonstration, participating in our upcoming events, becoming a registrar to register people to vote or donating money to the Party – anything, anything you choose to do is worthy, helpful and appreciated.

To bring you up to date on billboards, I have made some headway on the process of forming a PAC for raising money. I still need to make a couple of phone calls this week, calls that I could not get to last week due to the volume of my workload. I hope to have specific information next week. If I did not have a real job, this would all be so much easier! Have a great week everyone.

Stand Up! Push Back! Continue the Fight!

The "BLUE DOT CREW"

The Blue Dot Crew are Democrats who wear a little blue button! "A blue dot in a sea of red dots!" We, in Torrance County, can feel outnumbered and overwhelmed. We are a blue dot in a red county and will be heard. We will be at the three events this summer handing out blue dot buttons to any Democrat who wants one. They can then add their blue dot to the large Torrance County map. It will be our way to identify other Democrats when you feel alone.
