Good morning, fellow Antifa members!
First, a little piece of local news. Tomorrow we’ll be visiting Bethel Storehouse to present them with a load of non-perishable food that’s been donated at our DPTC office and Myra’s real estate office, plus we’ll be presenting them with a check of over $600 to help keep their support of the less fortunate in our community going. This was initially because of the government shutdown, but because the need is ongoing despite the government reopening, we’ll keep it flowing as long as we can.
So now, let’s turn our attention to the three-ring circus we call the federal government. In the first ring, we have the ringmaster, Donald Trump, saber-rattling, threatening to invade Venezuela and blaming Democrats for everything that he’s doing to our once-great country while his press secretary is busy claiming that all the references to Trump with teenaged girls in Jeffrey Epstein’s emails actually serve to exonerate President Pedophile.
In the second ring, we have a handful of Democratic and Independent Senators breaking ranks with the Democratic leadership in the Senate to vote with Republicans to re-open the government. We can all agree that the 44-day Republican shutdown of the government was a terrible thing, and it appears that the only thing a handful of Democrats gained out of going along with the Republicans was a vague promise from Majority Leader John Thune that Republicans will allow Democrats to introduce a bill to fix the healthcare problem sometime before the end of the year . . . a bill that, if it passes, will likely be dead on arrival in the House, according to Speaker Mike Johnson.
Speaking of Mike Johnson, over in the third ring of our circus we had Democrats and a few Republicans joining forces to push through a “discharge petition” that forces the Speaker to allow a vote on releasing the Epstein Files to the public. Insiders estimate that as many as 100 House Republicans will vote with Democrats in favor of releasing the files, so now even Trump, as of late last night, is calling for House Republicans to vote for the release, but he knows that if it passes the House it goes to the Senate where Majority Leader Thune is not supporting even bringing it to a vote. And even if it gets voted on in the Senate and passes, it then goes to the “first ring” of our circus, where Donald Trump will certainly veto it since it would probably end his presidency.
It's an entertaining circus, but our government isn’t supposed to be entertaining. It’s supposed to be helping the American people. To end the circus we need to elect Democrats up and down the ballot!
STAND UP! PUSH BACK! HELP INFORM YOUR NEIGHBORS!

TRUMP LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING!
Refute the Republican Rhetoric
At a White House event on Thursday, Trump made the claim that “We are the ones that have done a great job on affordability, not the Democrats. We just lost an election, they said, based on affordability. It’s a con job by the Democrats.” He then went on to say that “Affordability is much better with the Republicans. The only problem is the Republicans don’t talk about it.” So, how are Trump and the Republicans really doing on “affordability”?
Trump and his chief economic advisor, Kevin Hassett, are constantly talking about prices being astronomically lower than they were when Trump took office, thanks to Trump’s tariff policies. But the reality is that the inflation outlook has worsened under Trump. Consumer prices in September increased at an annual rate of 3%, up from 2.3% in April, when Trump first began to roll out his tariff hikes. Trump has emphasized that gasoline prices are coming down, and maintained that gasoline is averaging $2 a gallon, but AAA reported Thursday that the national average was $3.08, a little less than two cents per gallon lower than a year ago. Most economic analysts agree that if Donald Trump had not imposed tariffs, the current U.S. annual inflation rate of 3%, could have been as much as one-third lower, potentially bringing it near the Federal Reserve's target of 2%.
What’s almost hilarious is the fact that Trump keeps claiming that tariffs are bringing prices down, and they’re helping him to do a wonderful job of providing “affordability” for everyday Americans, but this past week he actually refuted his own lies by announcing that he was reducing tariffs on imported coffee, bananas and beef to make these items “more affordable”.

Looking for Democrats to run in 2026
With the 2025 non-partisan elections behind us, the DPTC is now looking at the 2026 Torrance County elections. These elections are partisan, but in the recent past there have only been Republicans on the ballot for the General Election since it’s been difficult to persuade Democrats to run in a county where it’s perceived that only Republicans can win. Because of this perception, there have been times when Democrats want to run, but feel that they have to change their party affiliation to “Republican” to get elected. In 2026 we’d like to change this perception, but we need brave Democrats to step up and “put their hats in the ring”. Here are the positions that will be up for election in 2026 along with the estimated annual salary:
County Commissioner District 1 – Pays $27,570.
County Commissioner District 2 – Pays $27,570.
Sheriff – Pays $72,164.
Assessor – Pays $70,031.
Probate Judge – Pays $24,180.
Magistrate Judge – Pays $79,537
All of the salaries shown are the current salaries which will likely go up slightly with a “cost of living” increase at the first of the year. The DPTC stands ready to assist you as much as possible, should you choose to step up and run for one of these positions! Contact Bill Peifer if you have any interest in running.
