Hello Fellow Democrats and Antifa Thinkers,
Here we are in the middle of the Holiday Season. It always feels like there is never enough time or money this time of year. There is never enough time to do all the shopping, never enough time to get all the decorations out and properly displayed, never enough time for all the cooking expected by our families and friends. I feel it every year, but oddly enough this year I have decided to give myself some grace. I am not going to fret about it, and the chips will fall where they may. I am going to get accomplished what I can, and if it does not get done, well, so be it. I think I will feel better about the Holiday Season and maybe enjoy it just a little bit more.
As for politics this week, I think Pete Hegseth and the blowing up of the boats in the Caribbean is the one thing that is on everyone’s mind. The first time he did it, I was totally shocked and said this is nothing but cold-hearted murder. Most Dems agree that Pete Hegseth is a murderer. Pete has now thrown Admiral Bradley under the bus, him being the commander that approved the second hit on the boat with the two survivors. That takes us back a couple of weeks ago to the discussion about service people have the right to disobey unlawful orders. Sadly, Admiral Bradley did not disobey and in my mind, he too is a murderer.
Congress is now arguing about the video being released to the public. Connecticut Rep Jim Himes, a democrat, has said that even if Americans support the administration’s goal of thwarting drug trafficking, they deserve to see how it’s being done. The thing is, none of these boats had enough fuel to get to the US and there is no proof that there were drugs onboard. There may have been drugs on board, but none of those boats were headed in our direction. More importantly, drug running does not carry a death sentence. Don’t get me wrong, I am no friend of drugs, nor am I sympathetic to the people that deal them, this is personal for me. My husband and I lost our son almost 8 years ago to methamphetamine. I hate the people that sold to him, and I hate the hospital that refused to treat him as a drug user. Drugs touch too many people’s lives in a very negative way. However, none of my experiences or other people’s experiences with drugs is any excuse for blowing up people in the middle of the ocean, especially when we are not at war with any of the countries that were close by. There was no Congressional approval for any of Pete Hegseths’s actions. And I say again, this was cold-blooded murder.
Pete Hegseth, however, is all proud of himself. He gave a keynote speech at the Regan National Defense Forum defending the strikes saying the DJT has the power to take military action “as he sees fit.” He goes on to dismiss concerns that the strikes violate international law. Fortunately, there are some Republicans that are now criticizing his actions. Let’s hope that criticism continues and that it turns into the Republicans taking action; we all want to see them stand up for what is right and what is Constitutional. Hegseth’s actions are far from being Constitutional. Republicans are the ones with all the power, let’s hope and pray they are now seeing the truth.
Stand Up! Push Back! Continue the Fight!

TRUMP LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING!
Refute the Republican Rhetoric
By Bill Peifer
This week I want to look at a lie told by Trump while taking questions from ABC News' Selina Wang. "If it is found that survivors were actually killed while clinging on to that boat,” Wang asked, “should Secretary Hegseth, Adm. Bradley or others be punished?"
"I think you're going to find that this is war," Trump replied before explaining that drugs were killing Americans and that every successful operation against these boats was saving 250 million American lives. Of course, let’s put aside the mathematical absurdity of thinking that, although Trump via Hegseth has sunk 22 or 23 small boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific, the first two attacks saved the lives of every U.S. citizen PLUS the population of Canada. Instead, focus on the statement to Wang that he think’s she’ll find out that this is a war. That is a lie. Unlike Trump, Selina Wang knows how to read, and has read the Constitution. She has surely seen that Article I, Section 8 of that document reserves for Congress the power “To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water.”
Meanwhile, the only reference to the military made in Article II of the Constitution ... the relatively small portion of that document that discusses the presidency and the president’s powers . . . is in Section 2 where it says that “he shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States”.
That’s it! End of discussion! This is NOT a war, because Congress has not declared war. It’s really that simple. Now admittedly, we have had many instances in the past where we’ve called something a war when Congress had not declared war. The Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf War come immediately to mind. They weren’t wars either, but at least Congress was aware and generally complicit in those "wars". This new non-war is being conducted in the dark, with selected members of Congress SOMETIMES being briefed after the fact.
And then Trump went on being Trump, saying stupid things and calling other people names while nodding off occasionally.

Looking for Democrats to run in 2026
With the 2025 non-partisan elections behind us, the DPTC is now looking at the 2026 Torrance County elections. These elections are partisan, but in the recent past there have only been Republicans on the ballot for the General Election since it’s been difficult to persuade Democrats to run in a county where it’s perceived that only Republicans can win. Because of this perception, there have been times when Democrats want to run, but feel that they have to change their party affiliation to “Republican” to get elected. In 2026 we’d like to change this perception, but we need brave Democrats to step up and “put their hats in the ring”. Here are the positions that will be up for election in 2026 along with the estimated annual salary:
County Commissioner District 1 – Pays $27,570.
County Commissioner District 2 – Pays $27,570.
Sheriff – Pays $72,164.
Assessor – Pays $70,031.
Probate Judge – Pays $24,180.
Magistrate Judge – Pays $79,537
All of the salaries shown are the current salaries which will likely go up slightly with a “cost of living” increase at the first of the year. The DPTC stands ready to assist you as much as possible, should you choose to step up and run for one of these positions! Contact Bill Peifer if you have any interest in running.
