Hello Fellow Democrats,
This is yet another week in the Trump Regime. We are all still here, continuing the fight the best way each of us knows how. It may not be enough to stop autocracy, but I hope it is the very best that each of us as Democrats can do.
I read an article this past week in Rolling Stone magazine that was shocking, upsetting, scary and very thought-provoking. It is an interview by Tim Dickinson, a long-time reporter for Rolling Stone, with Naomi Klein. I had no idea who she was or anything about her. She is described as an all-star academic and is the author of Shock Doctrine where she discusses Trump and Musk’s destruction and what the world’s richest people really want. She says that people like Elon Musk and Peter Thiel are guiding Trump in his presidency and are preparing for a dark, end-of-time fascism social collapse where the “elites emerge unscathed, and all powerful.” They literally want it all and rationalize some things that are monstrous and unthought of by most of the human race. There appears to be a story of a great culling, referring us back to the time of Covid when Trump did little to address the issue. Ms. Klein speculates that the feeling may have been, “Maybe we should just let the virus do its work, and maybe we should just let it cull the herd.” “Maybe climate change is just gonna cull humanity. And that’s okay.” It now feels like we have entered a radical and apocalyptic phase with Trump wanting to do away with Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security, which is another way of culling the herd. What does it feel like to just not give a shit if people die? She goes on to say, “It’s about being so rich that you actually believe yourself to be God.” She also points out that the deleting of science and research is part of the culling, no research to save lives, no problem.
In closing she says that we are not doing enough to stop this insanity, Bernie and AOC are doing good work, the demonstrations are doing some good, the universities and law firms that are standing up and fighting back are helping. We can’t give up now, it may not be enough, but we can’t stop now. Keep doing what you are doing, do more if you can, keep up the fight - democracy depends on it.
Stand Up! Push Back! Continue the Fight!
