Hello Fellow Democrats and Antifa Thinkers,
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
A-telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
Stephen Stills of Buffalo Springfield - 1966
As you’re probably aware, on Wednesday morning 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good drove her vehicle in the vicinity of some sort of ICE operation in Minneapolis past, or into, a protest demonstration of ICE’s heavy-handed actions in that city. Reports vary as to why Good was there, but she partially blocked an intersection with her car making it difficult, but not impossible, for the vehicles containing several ICE agents to pass. From the multiple videos that are available, it’s obvious that she waved at least one of the ICE vehicles, occupied by ICE Agent Jonathan Ross, to go around her. Then several other agents accosted her, one of them grabbing the handle of her driver-side door while demanding that she get out of the car. Bystanders report that another agent told her to “get the hell out of here”.
She cut her wheel left as if to start a three-point turn, backing up away from the agents, and then cut her wheel right to go forward. That’s when three shots rang out, all three bullets coming from the gun of Ross, who had returned and passed by the front of Good’s car, hitting Ms. Good in the head, killing her instantly. The first shot went through the lower left corner of Good’s windshield and the other two, fired at point-blank range were through the driver side door’s window. That’s the extent of the facts that everybody agrees on.
Before the victim was even identified, much less any information as to why Ms. Good was even in the intersection to begin with, Kristi Noem from Homeland Security proclaimed that the victim was a “domestic terrorist” who was trying to run over the agent with her car, and that the agent acted in self-defense. Others who were there have stated that she was just trying to leave the scene. The “official” report from ICE says that the agent was struck by the car and required medical attention in the hospital. Others report that he was not struck, and that he walked to his vehicle and drove away uninjured. Minneapolis and Minnesota State Police officials now claim that they are being “blocked out” of the investigation and that only the FBI and ICE are being given access to whatever evidence exists.
This is at least the ninth time in the past month where it’s well-documented that ICE has engaged in what most law enforcement professionals refer to as “the use of excessive force”, including two unwarranted deaths in Illinois. We may never know what really happened on Wednesday since we now obviously have a case of the federal government, which has repeatedly demonstrated that it can no longer be fully trusted, “investigating” itself, having already proclaimed what the “investigation” will reveal even before it’s begun. But there is one thing that IS “exactly clear”. Protestors anywhere near an ICE operation, exercising their constitutional rights to free speech and assembly, have “got to beware”. We need Stephen Stills to make a comeback.
Stand Up! Push Back! Continue the Fight!

TRUMP LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING!
Refute the Republican Rhetoric
By Bill Peifer
On Friday, Trump made a YUGE announcement on his UntruthSocial platform, stating: “Effective January 20, 2026, I, as President of the United States, am calling for a one year cap on Credit Card Interest Rates of 10%. Coincidentally, the January 20th date will coincide with the one year anniversary of the historic and very successful Trump Administration.” In typical Trump style, he makes it sound like this is something that he can accomplish with one of his Royal Decrees and that by just claiming that it will happen on January 20th it’s a done deal. The lie is in the implication that he has the power to make it happen, which he cannot. Imposing an interest rate cap on banks and credit card companies is something that Congress CAN do legislatively, but it cannot be done with one of Trump’s thousands of Executive Orders.
The hilarious part of this whole idea is that it’s not new. When Biden was president, he tried putting forth a similar proposal, but the idea was doomed in the Republican Congress as soon as it came out of Biden’s mouth. Then, last February, Senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) introduced S. 381 to do exactly that very same thing. But it was quickly shelved by the pro-banking leadership in the Senate to die a certain death partly because it had Sanders’ name on it. At the same time, Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) introduced H.R. 1944, which would do essentially the same thing, in the House of Representatives. Unfortunately, thanks to pressure from the banking lobby, it was buried by Speaker Mike Johnson, never to see the light of day, once again at least partly because AOC was one of the two primary sponsors.
Economics experts disagree as to whether this cap would be a good thing for the economy as a whole, although it would clearly benefit the millions of Americans who are struggling with high interest rates on a mountain of credit card debt. But it’s typical of Trump that when he might finally APPEAR to be trying to do something FOR the American people instead of doing something TO them, he would try to make it look like it was his idea, which it wasn’t, and that he would claim that he could do it without the approval of Congress, when he cannot.

Looking for Democrats to run in 2026
With the 2025 non-partisan elections behind us, the DPTC is now looking at the 2026 Torrance County elections. These elections are partisan, but in the recent past there have only been Republicans on the ballot for the General Election since it’s been difficult to persuade Democrats to run in a county where it’s perceived that only Republicans can win. Because of this perception, there have been times when Democrats want to run, but feel that they have to change their party affiliation to “Republican” to get elected. In 2026 we’d like to change this perception, but we need brave Democrats to step up and “put their hats in the ring”. Here are the positions that will be up for election in 2026 along with the estimated annual salary:
County Commissioner District 1 – Pays $27,570.
County Commissioner District 2 – Pays $27,570.
Sheriff – Pays $72,164.
Assessor – Pays $70,031.
Probate Judge – Pays $24,180.
Magistrate Judge – Pays $79,537
All of the salaries shown are the current salaries which will likely go up slightly with a “cost of living” increase at the first of the year. The DPTC stands ready to assist you as much as possible, should you choose to step up and run for one of these positions! Contact Bill Peifer if you have any interest in running.
