The Tiger's Roar!
College Park Elementary School
Monday, March 23, 2020

After a week of meetings and remote learning, the general agreement is that we deeply miss our College Park Family! During this time we want to keep all channels of communications open and current. I wish to give a shout out to our teachers that have held online lessons, placed support phone calls, and gotten answers to your concerns. We are planning on a weekly phone call to each student to check in. Please make sure your phone number is current or we will not be able to reach you to check in and answer any questions. Please contact Ms. Simmons-Harris via email and provide your name, your child's name and the updated telephone number in the event we do not have the very latest information.

As for this issue of The Tiger's Roar! we have included several important reminders along with some pictures of remote learning which I think you will enjoy. If you would like to feature your student engaged in a school related activity during this time away, please email Ms. Simmons-Harris a picture of perhaps yourself with your student (or the student alone) engaged in their school work. Kindly provide names and let us know what they were studying as we would be quite proud to feature their remote learning efforts in an upcoming issue!

Finally, please remember to check the Fulton County Public Schools website regularly and to care of yourself and your loved ones while we all work through this unprecedented time.

Be well,

Dr. Maisha N. Otway

Remote Learning

Questions and Technical Help Hotline
Beginning on Monday, March 16th a Remote Learning Hotline (470-254-2300) came on live to answer technical assistance questions such as resetting a password or finding a student ID number. The hotline is open 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the regular school week, Monday through Friday. Frequently asked questions are posted to the Remote Learning website:

Teachers are working regular school hours from their homes and will be responsive to the students' questions sent by email. Staff email information is posted on the College Park website. Students who do not have access to email should call the Remote Learning Hotline at 470-254-2300.

College Park teachers have created work spaces in their homes to block out distractions and to have their needed resources at their fingertips.

Stay Safe through Social Distancing
Although school closures might seem like a good time to meet up with friends and study together, Fulton County Schools urges students to do their coursework alone and not to use community buildings. The purpose of closing an entire school system is to limit the spread of illness through social distancing, which means avoiding large groups of people and keeping a safe distance from others.

Share Your Stories with Us!
Remote Learning is an opportunity for students to learn differently and apply themselves more creatively. Please share any pictures or stories with us by emailing Ms. Simmons-Harris any day of the week. We will be sharing these in The Tiger's Roar! and through other channels to highlight what some of our Tigers and their teachers are accomplishing until regular classes resume. Remote Learning serves our students as a stable educational bridge and we suspect you likely have some very positive success stories from home that you might care to share!

Mrs. Smith-Davis recently provided a "Read-Aloud" for her students (small picture to the lower right). Check out the engagement of this learner!
