 ASAP: Calling All Siblings for Kindergarten 2015-16! |
If your current grade K-4 Miraloma student has a younger sibling who will
be applying to Miraloma for the 2015-2016 school year, please turn in
your SFUSD registration forms to Ms. Mallen in the school office
by January 16th, 2015 so we can reserve a kindergarten spot for you.
Registration forms are also available at the school office. Please speak
with Ms. Mallen if you have any questions. |
NOV 19: MEEP Specialty Class Registration - deadline is today

Open registration for MEEP's Spring specialty classes closes today,
November 19, 2014. You may find out about days, time and cost for each class being offered by visiting the MEEP website.
Classes being offered are:
- Dance/Movement (K-2)
- Hip-Hop Dance (3-5th)
- Spanish (K-2) (Please note: this class is not an immersion program and meets only twice a week for an hour)
- Lego Engineering for Girls (K-3rd)
- Lego Engineering for Boys and Girls (K-5th)
- Math Club (1st-2nd)
- Math Club for K (K only)
NOTE: Open to all Miraloma students. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment numbers will be canceled for the upcoming semester. |

DEC 1-5: Inclusive Schools Week - Sign up to VOLUNTEER now!
|
Inclusive Schools Week is an annual, nationwide, K-12 celebration of our year-round efforts to promote and build inclusive, welcoming school communities that embrace and support people of all natural and diverse abilities, sociological and cultural backgrounds.
At Miraloma, ISW gives students additional tools to deal with feelings of inclusion, exclusion and differences, to build on our ongoing social-emotional, TRIBES and bully-free curriculums.
Parent help with ISW is very much appreciated and needed - sign up to volunteer! ISW parent roles include:
- Hang posters - Nov 17 thru 21
- Cut and hole punch cards for all-school project; help create classroom packets Nov 24 thru Dec 1
- ISW PE Ability Awareness Station Facilitators (in Gym) - Dec 2 & 3
- Work with Coach Jeff and Beth Lucey to plan activities, collect equipment and materials, and assist with set-up/cleanup day-of.
- Be a station facilitator who helps students to experience and discuss fun, thought-provoking activities that explore gross motor, fine motor, processing and sensory challenges.
- Distribute classroom packets Dec 4
- ISW Family Feast Coordinators & Help - Dec 5
- Help organize our annual whole-school potluck, where families bring foods that represent their cultures and traditions including set--up and cleanup.
- Bring a dish representing your cultural or family background - all foods welcome!

DEC 3: Presentation on Common Core Math State Standards - 6pm
|
|
Join me as Miraloma hosts an evening on COMMON CORE MATH STATE STANDARDS open for all to attend. Presented by the SFUSD Math Department, the event will help parents learn what they need to know about the new standards. Location: Miraloma Cafeteria Time: 6-7pm

DEC 12: Participate in the Upcoming Chinese New Year's Parade
|

For the seventh year, Miraloma students (and alums) are invited to join the Chung Ngai Dance Troupe in the 2015 Chinese New Year Parade. The parade for the Year of the Horse will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015* in Downtown/Chinatown San Francisco. (*Please note this is the same evening as the Miraloma Auction.)
This is the perfect opportunity to take part in the largest Chinese New Year celebration outside of Asia. More info here.
If your child would like to participate, return an application form to Susie Quan by Tuesday, Dec 12. We have a limit to the number of children that can participate.
