ratJAN 14-28: Read-a-thon at Miraloma!
The annual Read-a-thon starts Wed, Jan 14th runs through Wed, Jan 28th! What better time to bust out all those new books and Kindles than right after the holiday gift-giving season?

The Read-a-thon is a two-week period when students track their reading and win prizes for the minutes they have read. Winning classrooms that log the highest number of minutes will be rewarded with a popcorn party!

Unlike previous years, there will be no pledges this year, just a reading log. Printed copies of the reading logs will be available at the library. Also available to print online starting the 14th (link in next week's newsletter).

Last year, over 90% of the Miraloma kids participated to create an exciting environment of reading, discovering and collective success. Let's do it once again in 2015!

See the Read-a-thon web pages for more details.

signupFUNDRAISING: Host a Sign-Up Party/Event for the Auction 2015!
What is a Sign-Up? It is a party/event hosted by Miraloma families as a donation to the auction. At the auction, people sign up for parties by bidding on a slot.

Last year these "Sign-Ups" brought in over $50,000 at our auction--about a third of our total earnings! This year we hope we'll get as many fun Sign-Ups as possible for our upcoming auction on March 7th, 2015!

What kind of Party/Events can you host? Whatever you like! Adult-only, kids-only, or family events. In the past, we've had Italian, Indian, Peruvian, Caribbean, and Brazilian food-fests, beer and wine tastings, Disco Dances, Dutch and South American cocktail parties, and game nights (poker, Catan) for the adults. For kids, there have been science, Lego, duct-tape, bowling, sleepover parties, and a lot more. Contact us for more information.

Please join in the fun and pitch in a Sign-Up! Submit your Sign-Up here.
