JAN 28: Deadline to fill out the Annual School-Wide Survey!
|
Please take a moment to complete the survey by our deadline of January 28th! Click here to take it online -- only ONE survey per household.
This is your chance to weigh in on what makes Miraloma a great school and where we could be doing even better. It is a VERY valuable input for the SSC in making budgeting choices. Not only does it allow you to give specific feedback which helps us improve our school, it ties directly into our Balanced Score Card (measuring our progress against our goals as a school) which is how SFUSD determines our funding.
It takes approx. 7 minutes... Please fill one out for your household today!

JAN 14-28: Read-a-thon continues!
|
With the 11th annual Read-a-thon off to a rip-roaring start last week, it's hard to believe that we are already at the halfway point. Please keep your bookworms reading up a storm through next Wednesday, Jan 28 at 9pm.
READING STOPS: Wed, Jan 28 @ 9pm WINNERS ANNOUNCED: Fri, Feb 6
Below are a couple of handy tips from the Read-a-thon committee:
- Help your child to prioritize logging in the total minutes each day over the title of books and number of books. Meaning, if your child is reading from 6 books a day, be sure to log in an accurate total count of minutes read even if the title of the books does not fit in the space provided. Feel free to use short forms such as "James and the Giant Peach + 4 more"
- Try to keep a running total so you have a good sense of the reading volume, and can total your minutes easily on the last day.
Visit the Read-a-thon web pages for more details. If you need extra copies of the reading logs, please download them here: Kindergarten Log, First Grade Log, 2-5 Log.
Thank you for participating, and happy reading!

INFO: Kindergarten to College (K2C) Savings Program - learn more today! |
Children with college savings accounts are 6-7 times more likely to go to college than those without. Did you know that almost half of all Miraloma students have a college savings account opened by the City & County of San Francisco in its Kindergarten to College (K2C) program?
All K-2 students have K2C accounts with an initial $50 deposit. Financial incentives are available for participating families, but less than 10% of Miraloma families taking advantage of these incentives.
- K2C will be hosting Save for College Days at your local Citibank branch on February 4th and February 5th from 3pm-5pm. Make a contribution to your child's K2C account at this event, and receive a free piggy bank!
This is the first program of its kind in the United States, giving all students entering kindergarten in the public schools a head start in saving for higher education. Participating families throughout the city have contributed almost $1 million towards their children's K2C accounts. Click for more information on K2C, call 3-1-1 (within SF) or 415-701-2311, email [email protected], or visit www.facebook.com/K2CSF. |
