SEPT 9: Back to School Night - Save the Date |
Please plan to join your student's teachers for Back to School Night on Wed, September 9. Please note, there are two sessions based on grade level:
- Kinder-2nd grades: 5:30-6:10pm
- 3rd-5th grades: 6:20-7:00pm
While this is not a mandatory event, we highly recommend that an adult representative of every Miraloma student be present.
This is a great opportunity for you to come and visit your children's classroom, meet his/her teacher, and find out valuable information about grade level curriculum and classroom specific topics. It is also a wonderful chance for you to become familiarized with your child(ren)'s daily schedule and routine, get to know the teacher's expectations for the school year, and meet other parents in the same class.
More information on Childcare in next week's newsletter. Please try to make arrangements for your child(ren) to stay at home during this evening, as it is challenging to accommodate all families needing childcare.
Thank you in advance for taking an active role in your student's education at Miraloma Elementary School.

PROP 13 REFORM: Sign the Petition Today & Support Our Schools! |
This is an issue which has negatively impacted California schools and students for the last 47 years and it is time to change that. As citizens and parents, I ask you to get involved and sign this petition and share it with your community.
Here is more from a group leading the reform charge, Evolve California:
Proposition 13 was passed in 1978 to protect homeowners. Unfortunately, Prop. 13 created massive loopholes for corporations, allowing them to avoid paying fair property taxes even when their properties change hands. This large corporate giveaway hurts homeowners, students, and all Californians. We need to close the loophole and make corporations pay their fair share. According to the Legislative Analyst's Office, requiring corporations to pay property taxes based on the current value of their properties would generate at least $6 billion each year for California, including $2.5 billion per year for education.
