BY JAN 29: Annual School-Wide Survey!
Please take a moment and complete the Miraloma Family Survey by Jan 29, 2016.

NOTE: one survey per family. Use average answers when you have more than one child at Miraloma.

This survey is very valuable input for the SSC and PTA in making budgeting choices. Not only does it allow you to give specific feedback which helps us improve our school, it also ties directly into our Balanced Score Card (measuring our
progress against our goals as a school) which is how SFUSD determines our funding.

recessRecess Volunteers Needed
In years past, Miraloma had a team of recess volunteers (parents, family members, guardians) who supervised various activities on the yard helping to create a positive space for all of our students. Coach Justin and I hope to get this started again this semester.

At Miraloma, we have two recesses called "morning recess" and "lunch recess." We need at least 25 volunteers so that each recess is appropriately staffed and supported by adults.

You need absolutely no experience to be qualified for this. Playworks will train all volunteers.

Morning Recess:
K-3: 9:20am-9:40am --- NEED TWO VOLUNTEERS
4-5: 9:45am-10:05am --- NEED ONE VOLUNTEER

Lunch Recess:
K-1: 11-11:20am --- NEED ONE VOLUNTEER
2-3: 11:30-11:50am --- NEED ONE VOLUNTEER
4-5: 12-12:20pm --- NEED ONE VOLUNTEER

Contact us if you can volunteer!

bookfairJAN 22-28: Book Fair
The Miraloma Book Fair is back this January!

Come fundraise for your library by purchasing books for your classroom or your fabulous reader(s): 50% of what you spend comes back to the library as much needed funds. We have a great selection of titles for all levels.

Each child will visit the Book Fair with their class and will complete a wish list. Parents, please note the extended hours to cover drop off and pick up times for parents.

Friday, Jan 22: 8:00am - 3:30pm
Saturday, Jan 23: 10am - 2pm (Skateboarding on the yard, coffee and cookies)
Monday, Jan 25: 8am -7pm
Tuesday, Jan 26: 8:00am -3:30pm
Wednesday, Jan 27: 8:00am - 3:30pm
Thursday, Jan 28: 8am - 7pm

Sign up to VOLUNTEER during one or two of the sessions. It's fun and a great way to spend time with the great readers and parents at Miraloma.

Can't make it in person?
For parents who will find it difficult to make it during these hours, volunteers at the book fair will follow written directions from parents to allow ALL students to make a suitable purchase - please send your child to school with a signed blank check (enclosed in an envelope labeled BOOK FAIR) made out to Miraloma PTA. The librarian will be available for students during the library school hours and there will be additional Book Fair volunteers to help each child, and supervise the book purchases.

If you have any questions, please let Shae Brown and Edith de Jong know at [email protected].

The First Grade would love to help anyone out there who has outgrown their building and construction sets, like LEGOS, Magna tiles, tinker toys, KNex, Magnaformers, Gears, etc., by taking them off your hands!

If we cannot use them, we will donate to the new STEAM lab for the other grade levels to use.

Thank you.
