Welcome to the 2016-17 school year!
While the summer season fades, we can look forward to a great year ahead for our students, teachers, staff, and of course, our new principal, Mr. Ingber. I hope you'll join me in giving him, our new teachers, and incoming students a very warm welcome to the Miraloma community.
And what a great community you all have created! I am looking forward to working with each of you as we come together to figure out what our students, teachers, and school need to flourish-and to make sure it gets it done effectively and efficiently. Through our PTA funding and volunteer hours, we provide arts education, daily organic snacks, our PE coach and recess training, professional development for our teachers, a STEAM room, and many other needed and desired materials and resources.
Please join me for the first PTA meeting and Volunteer Fair on Thursday, September 1st at 8am in the Cafeteria. This is a great opportunity to learn more about all the ways you can participate in the school and help our students. Your participation is greatly appreciated and much needed.
Looking forward to seeing you at Morning Circle and the PTA meetings!
Sarah Sims (Zadie 4th, Nolan 6th-Alum),
PTA President - [email protected]

IMPORTANT: Online School Communications
|
With many new families joining Miraloma this year, we want to make sure everyone understands how to receive school communications.
We keep all school communications online and digital for your convenience -- and we
consolidate all important, school-wide information into our weekly newsletters. Take 5 min to read it each Wednesday!
To be in the know, make sure you have signed up for:
- Miraloma School E-mail List:
Official school communications such as our weekly school newsletter, Principal announcements, PTA Fundraiser & Volunteer mailings
- Class Email List:
Teacher-parent and classroom communications
- Your room parent or teacher will invite you to your class list
- Community Yahoo Groups:
Connect with other Miraloma families, set up play dates, sports teams, grade-wide camping trips etc. (Not required but good for connecting to the community.)
In addition, we have two social media feeds where you can follow school communications and photos:
- Miraloma's Facebook Page
- Mr. Ingber on Twitter

Miraloma is planning our first Early Release Day on Thursday September 15, when school will be done at 11:20am. (To be confirmed next week!) All Early Release days for the year will be posted to the school calendar by next week.
Here are some important reminders about our monthly Early Release program:
- Students DO eat lunch.
- Plan ahead for early pick-up.
- All after school programs will begin at 11:20 on early release day.
- If you are not able to pick up your child early, please contact Mr. Ingber.

Tardy, Absent & Sick Days - please follow these procedures
|
If your child is tardy more than 30 minutes or absent from school due to pre-planned arrangements or being ill, please follow our reporting procedures so the school knows what's going on.
1.
Submit this form to the school secretary ASAP.
No need to call!
(This form is listed on the left side of every newsletter, too, below the side calendar listings.)
2. Check in with your child's teacher upon return to see what was missed and if there is any make-up work to be done.
|
Please take a moment to
review the key school policies and information so that we get off on a good foot this year!
And a gentle reminder that
our play structure is closed before and during Morning Circle. It's closed again at 2:10pm, after school and pick up is complete. This was a policy put in place last year and helps keep our students safe. We appreciate your cooperation!
