The 2019 Miraloma Read-a-thon has begun and runs until 9pm on January 30th. All students are encouraged to join the fun and should have received reading logs in class last week. For more details and additional reading logs, please click  here . Happy reading!

PTA GENERAL MEETING: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30 AT 6PM
Please join us for the next PTA General Meeting on Wednesday, January 30 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in the library. The speaker topic this month will be science learning at Miraloma.

CODING CLASS FOR 3RD-5TH GRADERS: BEGINS NEXT WEEK

Is your 3rd, 4th or 5th grader interested in learning to code? MVCode is offering "Intro to Coding" sessions taught by experienced coders after school at Miraloma. Classes begin next week and cost $350 for each 7-week session.

TOMORROW - THURSDAY, JANUARY 24: EARLY RELEASE

Thursday, January 24th is an early release day.  School will finish at 11:20am and after school programs will begin immediately after dismissal.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1: FIRST FRIDAY COFFEE

Join fellow Miralomans for a cup o' joe, a pastry, and some good conversation! Our First Friday Coffee takes place every month on the first Friday from 8-9am outside the Cafeteria.  

Please  contact us if you are willing to bring a breakfast treat (store-bought or baked) to share with the community.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1 - THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7: BOOK FAIR

SAVE THE DATE  for the annual Miraloma Book Fair: Friday, February 1st through Thursday, February 7th. Volunteers will be needed, please email bookfair@miralomasf.com to help out. More details to come.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5: NO SCHOOL

Tuesday, February 5th is the Lunar New Year Holiday and there will be NO SCHOOL that day.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7: MIRALOMA ART SHOW
Miraloma's annual school-wide art show is coming soon! Thursday, February 7th, will be an evening of art and fun. Each child can submit an art piece for the Miraloma Art Show. 
  • Art of any medium and size: 3D, paintings, ceramics, fiber art, jewelry, computer animation, or videos. 
  • Students should bring their artwork to their classroom teacher on or before Wednesday, Feb 6th. If their piece is large, please email the Arts Committee to get special delivery instructions.
  • Three art works will be chosen for entry into the SFUSD Arts Festival and will be displayed at the Asian Art Museum in March. The Asian Art Museum does not accept artwork made from flowers, branches, food, recycled wood, feathers (including processed feathers from art supply stores), nut shells, cigarette butts, candy, seeds, dirt or sand, fabric, yarn, textiles, or bamboo.
  • Art works with a recycled theme or materials will be entered into the "Rise Above Plastic" Message In A Bottle art show at the Palace of Fine Arts in April.

SATURDAY, MARCH 2 - AUCTION 2019!
Watch this space each week for the latest and greatest info on the March 2nd Auction, our biggest fundraiser of the year...and always a party to remember!

Miraloma's biggest fundraiser and party will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 6pm-12 midnight at the Verdi Club. The Auction team is already in high gear preparing for this great event!  
EARLY BIRD TICKETS are $55 and will be on sale February 4 - 15.

How can you help us at this moment?
  • Tell us if you have a great live auction item to donate (e.g. vacation home, sports or show tickets) and/or connections in the hospitality business. Please contact our Procurement Lead, Lisa Burrell, at donations@miralomasf.com.
  • Host a Sign Up Party/Event! Submit your Sign-Up by Feb 1, or contact our signups coordinators, Wendy Lai and Linda Cheu, at signups@miralomasf.com if you have a great idea but need some help putting it together.
  • Join the auction committee! We're still looking for an Event Co-Coordinator, Marketing Lead, and Database Manager. Contact auction@miralomasf.com for more details.
     
Wine Raffle!
Donate a bottle or two of good wine ($30+ per bottle) for the Miraloma wine raffle. Please hand it to Angela Han, Sara Lowry or Jamie Dever at morning circle.

DANE COOK TICKETS
This year's live auction will feature two box seat tickets to see Dane Cook, one of the biggest names in standup comedy, on Saturday, March 23rd at the Masonic. 

Well-known for his Showtime and HBO TV specials and  his appearances on Comedy Central, Cook's show features his acerbic wit and patented brand of provocative, on-fire comedic insight while exploring the hilarious aspects of everyday life.

Fun Run: The Fun Run Committee is looking for new Co-Chairs for the 2019-2020 school year. This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity to lead one of Miraloma's most important and memorable community-building events. 


Read-A-Thon:
 The Read-A-Thon Committee is looking for new Co-Chairs to take over next year's event. As part of the transition, it would be ideal for the new volunteers to shadow this year's coordinators starting THIS WEEK. 

Snack: The Snack Committee needs bin cleaners on Wednesdays and Thursdays after school. Please sign up here for a week, or two or three. If everyone helps out, we can continue providing healthy snacks to Miraloma students!
