Today is the FINAL day of the Miraloma Read-a-thon, which runs until 9pm TONIGHT!  For additional reading logs, please click  here

NO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY, FEB. 5 - LUNAR NEW YEAR HOLIDAY

Tuesday, February 5th is the Lunar New Year Holiday and there will be NO SCHOOL that day.

THE DRAGON CODE

As part of our new  Dragon Code program, stu dents began earning "Dragon Scales" for  sho wing positive behavior. All of the earned Dragon Scales, each displaying a student name, are added to our new Miraloma Dragon in the cafeteria.  Then each Monday during morning circle, we'll highlight three special students who will get to wear the highly coveted Dragon Capes! 

Thanks to all parents for encouraging your kids to earn Dragon Scales by being safe, listening attentively and being respectful. Also a big thanks to the teacher Culture & Climate Committee for creating this school-wide positive behavior system and to parent Ryan Silvers for her artistic direction.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: MORNING CIRCLE
With the arrival of winter and "cold" weather, I know it's not easy to get out of bed on time. However, our first bell rings at 7:48am, and the expectation is that every single student arrives to the Miraloma Yard by 7:50 sharp. 

Additionally, thank you for your efforts to encourage your students to fully participate at Morning Circle--it is the one time when our whole community is together, and personally, I think it's really special to see our kindergartners alongside our 5th graders.

Along with the various themes for the week, I love getting our multilingual students out on the microphone so please let me know if your student is up for sharing "good morning" in a language we have not yet learned...

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1: FIRST FRIDAY COFFEE

Join fellow Miralomans for a cup o' joe, a pastry, and some good conversation! Our First Friday Coffee will take place this Friday from 8-9am outside the Cafeteria.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1: FIRST DAY OF BOOK FAIR
 

The Book Fair is back! 50% of all sales come back to the school, supporting the library and classrooms. Students can shop with cash or a check made out to Miraloma PTA. Parents may also use credit cards for purchases.

BOOK FAIR TIMES & DATES:
Friday, Feb 1:  8-9am, lunchtime, 2-3pm
Saturday, Feb 2:  10am-2pm. Bagels and coffee available; neighborhood invited
Monday, Feb 4:  8am-3pm
Tuesday, Feb 5:  NO SCHOOL
Wednesday, Feb 6:  8am-3pm
Thursday, Feb 7: 8am-3pm and 5-7pm during the Art Show

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7: MIRALOMA ART SHOW

Only one week and a day until the annual Miraloma Art Show. Please join us for a night of art, snacks and fun for the whole family next Thursday, February 7th. The show will be held from 5:30-7:00pm in the Gym. 

Each child can submit an art piece:
  • Art of any medium and size: 3D, paintings, ceramics, fiber art, jewelry, computer animation, or videos.
  • Students should bring their artwork to their classroom teacher before Feb 6th. If their piece is large, please email the Arts Committee to get instructions.
Volunteers Needed:
Please contact the Arts Committee at arts@miralomasf.com if you can help with Wednesday set up or Friday break down:
  • Set-up: Wednesday, Feb. 6th at 5:00pm in the Gym
  • Break down: Friday, Feb. 8th from 12pm-1:50pm in the Gym
