UPCOMING PARENT PROGRAM: CONVERSATION ABOUT RACE Facilitated by WORLD TRUST
Miraloma strives to be an inclusive and equitable school, and yet, we can always do better.  Join us for a community conversation about race and inequity, facilitated by World Trust and featuring the film Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequity

Gather with fellow Miraloma parents and teachers to gain a practical framework for understanding one of the most urgent issues of our and our children's time--designed to create positive dialogue and build skills for continuing a school-wide conversation.

Wednesday, October 17
5:30-7:30pm
Miraloma Auditorium
Childcare and light dinner will be provided. Doors open at 5:15pm.

World Trust is a non-profit social justice organization that provides deep learning, tools and resources for people interested in tackling unconscious bias and systemic racial inequity in their workplace, community and in their lives. World Trust's skilled facilitators have led break-through dialogs for major corporations, universities, and nonprofit organizations nationwide.

FOLLOW UP FROM PTA MEETING
Thank you to all who joined us for the first PTA Meeting last week. We learned a great deal from Principal Ingber, Mr. Adams,  Ms. Huang, and Ms. Kitsuda about the Social and Emotional Learning that takes place at Miraloma. We've included a few slides here  from the larger presentation that were of particular interest to parents: the "zones of regulation" helps students identify feelings and provides strategies to self regulate. For more information reach out to the PTA Board.

THE DRAGON IS HUNGRY!! ANNUAL FUND GIVING
Thank you to everyone who has donated to our Annual Fund campaign! If you haven't yet made your gift, online giving is simple and secure and you can amplify the impact of your contribution with a monthly donation.

Here are a few things that your donation makes possible: a full-time PE teacher, literacy specialists, social worker, teacher classroom support, community-building events, field trips and much, much more.

The Annual Fund is the biggest bang for your buck and for Miraloma. 100% of your donation goes directly to our school. Your support makes a real difference for our kids and our greater school community.
