DECEMBER 24 - JANUARY 5: WINTER BREAK & NO SCHOOL
As a reminder, Winter Break will begin Friday, December 21st after school and continue through January 6th. School resumes on Monday, January 7th at 7:50am.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 18: FAMILY DANCE PARTY
Join Ms. Matarazzo in the gym on Friday, January 18th from 6:30-8:00pm for Miraloma's 1st Annual Family Dance Night!

All family members are welcome, so bring the whole crew!
Dancing is one of the easiest and most fun ways to get fit! We'll dance to pop hits, old skool favorites, Motown, and even do some line dances. You can suggest your favorite song or dance at the suggestion box near the main office, and we will do our best to put it on the playlist.

Please note that no food will be served and only water will be allowed in the gym. We also need a few volunteers to make the night a success, so sign up here if you can volunteer for a 30-minute set up/clean up shift or have a disco ball we can borrow. We hope to see you there!

JANUARY 21 & FEBRUARY 5: SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Please remember that school will be closed on Monday, January 21st in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and on Tuesday, February 5th for Lunar New Year. There will be school on Monday, February 4th.
MARCH 2: HELP PREPARE FOR AUCTION 2019!

Miraloma's biggest fundraiser and party will be held on March 2, 2019 from 6pm-12 midnight at the Verdi Club. The Auction team is already in high gear preparing for this great event!

How can you help us at this moment?
  • Join the team as Event Co-Lead and help Jaime Dever make the big night run smoothly. Responsibilities include coordinating volunteers/vendors/donations for the event, managing the wine and golden paddle raffle logistics, manage set up/break down as well as acting as the event coordinator during the auction itself. Email auction@miralomasf.com if you're interested!
  • Tell us if you have a great live auction item to donate (e.g. vacation home, show tickets) and/or connections in the hospitality business. Please contact our Procurement Lead, Lisa Burrell, at donations@miralomasf.com.
  • If you are a classroom art project volunteer, please send rough dimensions and display instructions to Ryan Silvers & Brooke Corley at arts@miralomasf.com by the end of January. Finished projects are due on February 17th.

BY FEBRUARY 1: SUBMIT YOUR SIGN-UP PARTY IDEA FOR THE AUCTION

What is a Sign-Up? It is a party/event hosted by Miraloma families as a donation to the auction. At the Auction, people sign up for parties by bidding on a slot.

Last year these "Sign-Ups" brought in over $100,000 at our Auction - about a third of our total earnings! We hope we'll get as many fun Sign-Ups as possible this year.

What kind of parties/events can you host? Whatever you like! Adult-only, kids-only, or family events. In the past, we've had Italian, Indian, Peruvian, Caribbean, and multicultural food-fests, beer and wine tastings, Dutch and South American cocktail parties, and game nights for the adults. For kids, there have been science, Lego, knitting, bowling, sleepover parties, and a lot more. Contact us for more information/ideas.

Please join in the fun and submit your sign-up party here.

RECAP: INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS WEEK
This year, Miraloma took inspiration from the National Inclusive Schools Week slogan "A Kaleidoscope of Friends" and celebrated Inclusion all week. All of our Kindergarteners to Fifth Graders participated in a school-wide art project of tie-dying colorful flags with messages of hope, that now adorn the entrance/ exit of our school yard.

Additionally, we welcomed the Alphabet Rockers to our auditorium and the younger grades absorbed their messages of inclusion, peace, and unity. Our upper grades received a strong added message of respect and they will surely remember how to be thoughtful audience members. Finally, we hosted our annual Ability Awareness Stations for all of our students on Wednesday, with the help of several dedicated teachers and parent volunteers.

Inclusive Schools Week is an annual, nationwide event which exists to encourage and celebrate the progress that schools have made in providing a supportive and quality education to an increasingly diverse student population, including students who are marginalized due to disability, race, gender preference, socio-economic status, cultural heritage, and other factors.

Special shout outs to our ISW Committee of teachers and the following parent volunteers:   Aradhana Goel-Art Lead;  Ramona Pedersen-Book Lead;  Veronica Lacayo-Banner Flags;  Mary Szczepanik-Poster; and  Wendy Hoyle-Bulletin Board.

Thank you!
