Introduction by our New Principal
Dear Miraloma Families,

I'm thrilled to introduce myself as the new principal of Miraloma! I look forward to meeting you soon, but in the meantime, a little about me: I grew up in Minneapolis, MN, where I loved playing tennis and basketball and most other sports with my brother. After several years in New York getting my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I spent an exciting 2 years in a rural Andean village with the Peace Corps in Peru. Since then, I've been working in the public schools for the past nine years, as a classroom teacher, instructional coach and most recently as the assistant principal at Alvarado Elementary.

I have always been passionate about focusing my efforts on students first, while supporting my fellow teachers to do so as well. As the principal of Miraloma, you can count on me to do the same, while being visible, accessible, and as communicative as possible.

Thank you, and I look forward to getting to know you and your children very soon!

fifthgradeFifth Grade Celebrations
On Thursday May 26, we have the following celebrations planned:
  • 8-9am: 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony in the auditorium
  • 9-10am: 5th Grade Reception in the cafeteria
To help ensure that all parents can have space in the space limited auditorium, we can only allow for 2 people per family to attend. (We have explored the possibility of using other spaces, but the barrier is that many schools in the district are holding similar events, so space and equipment are both very limited)
Following the reception, some families may choose to take their 5th graders out for a celebration, but there are also many students who stay behind and have a lighter afternoon of school. Make sure to sign out in the office if you take your child before 1:50pm!

kindergartenKindergarten Classroom Assignments 2016-2017
In order to create 3 balanced classrooms, build community, and to get to know all of our new students, Kindergarten teacher assignments will be made after the first few days of school. During the first few days, Kindergartners will begin the day together, rotate through all 3 classrooms, and end the day together. Final classroom assignments will be sent via email as well as posted at the school by the end of the first week.

Kindergarten families  are invited to the Kindergarten Orientation on Friday, August 12 at 3 pm. It starts with a 15 minute introduction by our Principal, Mr. Ingber in the Auditorium, followed by a visit to all three classrooms.

kelleyFarewell Miraloma and Thank You!!
Hello Greater Miraloma Family,
Many of you know that this will be my last year teaching at Miraloma. I have had 12 wonderful years here and have taught 20 years in all for SFUSD.  I wanted to say goodbye to you all.  I feel lucky I got to know many of you well and have had the joy of teaching your amazing children. I have loved my time at Miraloma. I couldn't ask for a better teaching team and the families here are amazing. Thank you all for your support over the years. Miraloma will always hold a special place in my heart.

My family and I moved to Marin and we have been rooting ourselves there. Next year I will stay home with our four year old daughter, work part time and start up my own personal yoga practice again.  Then I will go back to teaching the following year somewhere in Marin.

Please keep in touch and drop me an email to let me know what your kiddo are up to. I will establish a teacher Kelley Lehman facebook page over the summer to keep tabs on some of you. My first group of first graders are now 27 years old! It's always fun to see what they are up to. My email is  [email protected]

Take care and enjoy those amazing kids of yours!

Kelley Lehman

P.S. My replacement is not public yet. We will let you know by the end of the summer.
