If you want to get truly involved and have time to meet once a month (usually on a Monday @ 6pm), please NOMINATE yourself to serve on the School Site Council (SSC). Don't let the 'elections' scare you off - we generally have just enough nominations to have all nominees serve on the SSC, either as parent member or alternate.

The
School Site Council (SSC)
will be conducting elections for new parent members. Elected members serve a two-year term. The SSC meets once a month to advise the principal on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the school's overall improvement plan and school budget.
It is important to involve individuals who are most affected by our school's operations in the decision-making process.

OCT 1: Garden Party with Ice Cream Treats |
Pull on your work gloves, pick up those clippers and shovels, and dig into Miraloma's outstanding educational garden! This is a kid-friendly event on
Sat, Oct 1, 10
am-noon with ice cream treats at noon.
- We will plant trees and flowering shrubs along Omar, deadhead perennials on Myra, prune all trees and shrubs for Fall, and spread fresh mulch throughout.
- We have a few small carpentry assignments by request of garden teacher Ms. Danny.
- We will present a color rendering of the landscape Master Plan on exhibit for comment and discussion
Spend a few hours outdoors in the season of Miraloma's best weather, catch up with old friends (and meet some new), and put down some roots in our garden - and thereby, in our community.

OCT 5: Walk and Roll to School Day |
Students and families who want to walk and roll as a group can
meet Ms. Danny at Starbucks on Portola and we will be on our way to school
by 7:30am. Coach Jeff will greet you with a prize at the entry gate to morning circle. The first 40 walkers and rollers to get to school will have an extra prize from SFUSD.

OCT 5: Inclusive Schools Parent Meeting |
The Miraloma Inclusive Schools Group holds meetings every 1st Wednesday of the month after morning circle.
All families are welcome for this monthly meeting to talk about inclusivity at Miraloma.

Rain or shine, help us as we work to again make this event as green and earth friendly as possible by packing in and packing out your own family picnic. More savory items, and fruit, will be sold this year, alongside the fantastic sweet baked treat sale. We are excited to announce that this year all supplies will be biodegradable!

VOLUNTEER: Volunteer in our Library

REGULAR VOLUNTEERS: Own-a-Shelf Sign up to own your shelf/ves in any part of the library (sign up sheet posted in library). What does ownership entail? Come in whenever we're open and re-shelve and reorder your shelf's books alphabetically/numerically and pull those books that need cleaning and repair. A fun task for the Dewey Decimal fans and those who must have order! Sign up in the library now to claim your favorite section. DROP IN: Help on your Schedule Too busy to commit to a regular visit? Come on in and spend a few minutes with us on a drop-in basis. Wanna clean? Shelve books? All help welcome and we love the company!

Recess is an integral part of our children's socio-emotional development. A huge part of making sure recess at Miraloma can be a positive space for all of our students is by having enough caring and responsible adults on the yard to help provide supervision. Please contact me to volunteer!

The Snack Committee provides fresh fruits and vegetables to each classroom daily, so our kids have a healthy snack in between breakfast and lunch. We need parent volunteers weekly on:
- Mon/Wed at 8am in the garden to help prep produce for the classrooms.
- Wed/Thu/Fri after school to pick up snack bins from classrooms and clean them out.
