Auction Wrap Up
Final Auction Results!
The final auction results are in, and it's something we can be proud of. We raised a record $254,000 from our auction events. A few highlights:
  • More than 340 people turned out to support our school
  • Our amazing teachers brought in over $4,700 in tips for the school in an hour
  • During Fund-a-Need paddles were raised almost 200 times to bring in $56,000 towards funding our PTA Programs for another year
  • The signup parties & events brought in over $100,000!
This is a wonderful testament to the strong community we have here at Miraloma. It truly is a wonderful school.

On behalf of the principal, the PTA president, the SSC leadership, and all the Miraloma staff, we want to send one GIANT final thank you to the auction committee for their hard work organizing this year's auction. We've never had a more successful auction and we thank everyone who participated. The generosity is greatly appreciated and it helps us keep our current programming going for another year. THANK YOU!
MAR 15: YMCA Parent Bingo Night
Drop in anytime between 4:30-7:30pm to join in the fun! All Miraloma families are welcome. The YMCA after-school program PARENT BINGO NIGHT is a chance for everyone to come together, have fun, have some snacks and hopefully win some prizes, or watch a movie in the auditorium! 
Every year, our non-profit Y campaigns to bring in donations that allow us to give families the opportunity to participate in our programs that may not be able to pay for them. 
Bingo cards will be $5 each or 5  for $20

MAR 18: Shared Schoolyard Kick Off Event
Join the Shared Schoolyard Project and Supervisor Mark Farrell at Miraloma Elementary School on Saturday, March 18 from 11am-1pm for an exciting kick-off event marking the grand re-opening of the schoolyard for the public to use on weekends. The event will include games and activities for the whole neighborhood, free lunch, and a ribbon cutting ceremony.  [Facebook Event]

MAR 21: PTA Program: Kids and the News 
Join us on Tue Mar 21, 6:30-8pm for a discussion on "How to talk to your kids about what's happening in the news".
XYZA News co-founders Sapna Satagopan (Miraloma parent) and Joann Suen will lead this event and discuss how to speak as a family about difficult events, help kids digest news in a way that makes sense to their lives, learn what sources are age appropriate, and how to understand the difference between "fake" and "real" news.

MAR 27-31: Spring Break

MAR 27-31: Final Phase of Construction
Our final phase of construction will be taking place over Spring Break. We are creating one final set of gender neutral bathrooms on the first floor so that we have all options available to our students (single stall, multi-stall, gender neutral, boy only and girl only). Miraloma is an inclusive community and we are proud to offer bathroom options for all of our students.

Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC) testing for grades 3-5 will be going from mid April to mid May. More details coming next week's newsletter. 
APR 30: Spring Festival!

The Spring Festival is our free end-of-the-year school community event. It's a great way for this amazing group of people to get together and celebrate a successful school year.
There will be games, prizes, delicious food, great live music, and our fabulous bake sale! You don't want to miss it!

BY MAY 5: SFUSD SQII Survey
Please fill out the important SQII Family Survey by Friday, May 5. It is part of the School Quality Improvement Index (SQII) and is one way the SFUSD and the State of California are measuring the Culture and Climate of our Miraloma. 
  • One survey for Miraloma per family!
  • Will not be used in staff or teacher evaluations.
  • Is completely anonymous. 
  • Paper surveys are available but they are due on April 14.
