A heartfelt thank you to all the day of event RUN volunteers that helped make the event a success and deep gratitude to all the Committee Leads that provided guidance to their teams through what would otherwise appear to be sheer chaos.

An extra special thank you to our:
Corporate Sponsorship Team Trio Bronagh Hanley, Charmaine Curtis and Holly Olstein for the many tireless weeks of work leading up the the event.
Bake Sale Team Christy Gagan, Jaime Dever and Emily Schuckman for all their coordination and shattering last year's record.
Grill-master Extraordinaire Dirk Delmon for the marathon creation of pancakes to hotdogs.
Pizza Purveyor Awad Awadalla for a dozen pizzas that were sold in a dozen minutes.
T-Shirt Team Rachel Kaplan Newell and Matt Newell for sorting, organizing, and distributing shirts in time for the event.
DJ and Audio Team Chancey Tilston and Andy Kellogg for their tribute to Rock-N-Roll and keeping us all amped and smiling.
Bulletin Board Creators Sylvia Breslin and Veronica Lacayo for introducing flair into our hallways while acquainting us with the Run theme.
Graphic Designer Jim Deeken for creating a design that creating a design that has, yet again, garnered rave reviews.

Until we RUN again in 2018, keep on rockin' Miraloma!
HALLOWEEN COSTUME DRIVE A SUCCESS!
Thanks to the Miraloma community, we collected more than 175 costumes for North Bay families!  Costumes were distributed over the weekend at the Sonoma County Children's Museum to hundreds of families. Thank you to everyone who donated! We look forward to sharing more opportunities for community service in the coming months.
NOW: Ready to dive into Volunteering? Here are our latest needs!
#1: CALL FOR AN AUCTION CO-CHAIR!

2018 will be the 10th Annual Miraloma Auction and it is a smooth running machine with a rock-star team in place. We need an Auction Co-Chairperson to partner with our current (and seasoned) Co-Chair Catherine Homsey to help steer the team and make this the best auction yet!

The annual Auction is our school's single biggest fundraising activity of the year. Proceeds from the Auction fund a variety of student enrichment programs such as PE, the STEAM lab, outside science, dance, class field trips, healthy snack, literacy programs, and more.  Make a difference in your child's education and join the team!
#2: CALL FOR AN INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS WEEK PARENT LEAD!

We need an ISW Lead(s)*, who coordinates our wonderful Inclusive Schools Week in early December. This person(s) will coordinate with other ISW volunteers, including working with the ISW Art Project sub-lead (Ryan Silvers). The ISW Lead is responsible for ISW communication to the community (through the newsletter, etc.) and coordinates volunteers to create in-class activities and present an all-school assembly (if time permits). In addition, the Lead helps coordinate the parent volunteers for our PE Ability Awareness stations as well as helps with the Family Potluck. [*If you have someone you'd like to share the work with, Co-Lead pairs are welcome!]

The ISW Lead is a short term position - work begins in late October/early November and ends after the first week of December. Check out our webpage if you're unfamiliar with ISW but would like to see what the week is all about!

COMING UP
NOW: Parent-Teacher Conferences Sign-Ups
Oct 30 - Nov 3:  Sign up for families with multiple children at Miraloma. Look for an invitation from your students' teacher to sign up for a conference this week. We try our best to make accommodations when there are multiple siblings.

Nov 6-10:  Sign up for families with one child at Miraloma. Look for an invitation from your student's teacher to sign up for a conference next week .

Note that school will end at 12:50 pm each day during conference week (Nov 27- Dec 1) and our after school programs will begin at 12:50 pm.

Conferences are important opportunities to check-in with your child's teacher(s) to see how they're doing, so I encourage everyone to sign up for a slot. Each teacher handles their own classroom sign-ups and makes every effort to provide a range of time-slots to accommodate families. Check with your teachers for more information.
