DRAINAGE WORK TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE ROUTE 17 SOUTH AT ROUTE 258 INTERSECTION
All southbound through lanes on Route 17 closed temporarily starting as early as
Aug. 7.

ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY – Starting as early as Aug. 7 at 6 p.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation will close the southbound lanes on Route 17 (Carrollton Boulevard) at the intersection of Route 258 (Brewers Neck Boulevard) while crews perform drainage work as part of the Route 17 at Route 258 Intersection Improvements Project.

The closure, which is estimated to reopen as early as Aug. 9 at 6 a.m., will restrict motorists from traveling southbound through the intersection on Route 17. Motorists traveling east on Route 258 onto Route 17 north will not be impacted; likewise, motorists traveling north on Route 17 will still have the ability to turn left onto Route 258 west. This closure and detour will not restrict access to businesses along Route 17.

While the closure is in place, a signed detour will direct passenger vehicles on Route 17 south to:
  • Turn right onto Route 258;
  • Make a U-turn at Deep Bottom Drive;
  • Continue on Route 258 east; and
  • Turn right on Route 17 south

For tractor-trailers, a signed detour will direct drivers to continue south on Route 17 by:
  • Turn right onto Route 258;
  • Turn left onto Deep Bottom Drive; and
  • Turn right on Route 17 south

All work as part of the Route 17 at Route 258 Capacity Improvement Project is weather-dependent and subject to change.
