Dallas Running Club is known for its training programs, but this summer's line-up is more comprehensive that ever, offering options for everyone from a 0 to 5K course for novices who are considering running to multiple levels of marathon training designed to accommodate first-time marathoners to those who want to run a faster marathon. So whichever running level you are at, and whatever your distance or time goal might be, we have a program that should help you accomplish that. Most importantly, all programs offer something that the participants appreciate most of all: a fun, non-judgmental environment where friendships are forged.
Summer Bridge Program
The DRC Summer Bridge Program is a 13-week program designed to help runners carry over fitness gained during spring training through the Texas summer and into Fall Training. This program is different than our other programs in that there will not be any specific workouts or training towards any specific race(s). This program begins on May 9 and ends on July 28. All groups will meet at the DRC clubhouse on Saturdays at 6:00 a.m. and Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. On the Tuesday runs, all runners will have the option to run at either White Rock Lake on pavement or Norbuck Park on a natural surface trail. At each run, runners will be broken into groups by pace and will run between 30-60 minutes on Tuesdays and 45-90 minutes on Saturdays. The cost for this program will be $25.00.
Summer Fast Track Program
The DRC Summer Fast Track Program is a 12-week program designed to help runners improve speed, strength, and efficiency. This program will begin on May 12 and end on July 28. This program will have structured workouts on Tuesdays and Thursdays administered by one of our RRCA coaches. The cost for this program is $40.00
El Scorcho / La Scorchita Training
The DRC El Scorcho/La Scorchita training program is an 11-week program designed specifically for those training for the El Scorcho 50K and La Scorchita 25K. This program begins on May 9 and ends on July 14. The cost for this program is $40.00
Summer Mile 0 Beginner Training Program
The DRC Summer Mile 0 Program is a 12-week program designed to help new or newly returning runners learn to train and complete a 5K race in a fun, social, non-competitive atmosphere. We want to educate and encourage new runners to train effectively and adopt a more active lifestyle. The Mile 0 program begins with walking, gradually mixes in running, and then builds up to runs of three (3) miles or more. The group runs will help participants stay accountable and motivated by others going through a similar experience. This program begins on May 16 and ends on July 28. All groups will meet at the DRC clubhouse on Saturdays at 7:00 a.m. and Tuesdays at 7:15 p.m. The cost for this program is $40.00.
Summer Run 2.0 Intermediate Training Program
The DRC Summer Run 2.0 program is a 12-week program designed for runners who have just completed the Mile 0 program or who have already completed a 5K. This program is designed to build a runner's endurance to complete a faster 5K or increase racing distance. This program begins on May 16 and ends on July 28. All groups will meet at the DRC clubhouse on Saturdays at 7:00 a.m. and Tuesdays at 7:15 p.m. The cost for this program is $40.00.
Summer Youth Program
The DRC Summer Youth program is an 8-week program designed for junior high and high schools students ages 12-18 that participate in school track and cross country programs. This program will aim at sharpening and building fitness over summer vacation to provide a head start for the upcoming racing season. This program begins on June 13 and ends on July 28. All students will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays at Germany Park and at Norbuck Park on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 7:00 a.m. The cost for this program is $50.00.
Early Marathon Training
The DRC Early Marathon Training program is a 21-week program designed specifically for those training for late October / early November marathons (Chicago, Marine Corps, or NYC). This program begins on June 13 and ends on November 1. After the end of the season, runners may continue to train with the Fall Training program until the Dallas Marathon at no additional cost. All groups will meet at the DRC clubhouse on Saturdays at 6:00 a.m. and at varying locations (depending on the workout) on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. Runners will be assigned training groups based on fitness level and will perform the scheduled workouts.
