Lower Shore Land Trust

The Lower Shore Land Trust was awarded $38,382 from National Fish and Wild Foundation to provide the DRCN with support for the administrative and facilitation necessary to achieve success in implementing the Strategic Action Plan. Funding from the first round of the new grant program, Chesapeake WILD, supports the coordination of the DRCN as the collaboration among partners is scaling up to deliver restoration and conservation priorities and take advantage of new funding streams that address habitat loss, climate resiliency, under-resourced communities, and water quality. Outcomes of the project include facilitating the annual meeting of the network and stakeholders and release of the first annual report with the goal to raise the visibility of the DRCN to decision makers at the state and federal level.

Description:
Through this funding opportunity, the Trust seeks to engage new applicants and organizations from diverse
communities in small-scale projects that enhance communities, engage residents, and, ultimately, improve
natural resources. Among the Trust’s core values are diversity and inclusion: We feel that a broad range of communities can benefit from healthy natural resources, even if their primary focus is on other issues. Human health, the economy, jobs, community livability, education and our children are all connected with a healthy environment. As a result, the Trust is investing in grants primarily to new applicants who have yet to frequently engage with the Trust.

About the Delmarva Restoration and Conservation Network (DRCN)
The Delmarva Restoration and Conservation Network (DRCN), formed in 2017, is a collaborative of local, state, and Federal government agencies and NGOs working with private and public landowners and local governments to identify the most important places to protect and restore, and to obtain support and funding for voluntary restoration and conservation.

The DRCN Mission is to restore and conserve Delmarva’s landscapes, waterways, and shorelines that are special to its people, fundamental to its economy, and vital for its native fish, wildlife, and plants.
