CURRENT KITCHEN TRENDS

As many already know, kitchens are one of the most remodeled rooms in a home, but materials in the space can go in and out of style. The National Association of Home Builders talked to two design experts on their Design Committee and  National Sales and Marketing Council to see what kitchen designs are gaining ground as we head into 2018.
An open floor plan is pretty much a given, says Mary DeWalt, president of Mary Dewalt Design Group in Austin, Texas. "It's open to all the other rooms, so it's very important that it's designed well," she said.
They want kitchen islands. Big islands. "People are eating at their islands, and the breakfast area is more of a gathering place," said DeWalt
. Some would even prefer to swap the kitchen table for a comfortable pair of chairs to sit and scroll through a tablet or phone.
Storage remains very important, and if stuff can't fit in these new streamlined cabinets and expanded islands, home builders are taking the expanded mudroom trend and going a step further. "In some markets, we are seeing the 'messy kitchen,' with a sink, additional storage and maybe a dishwasher. No matter how beautiful buyers want their homes to be, utility and operations within the space must be addressed," Dirks said.
Steam ovens, warming drawers and induction cooktops are growing in popularity this year, and while appliances are still likely to be stainless steel, black stainless - which is almost black - is also growing in popularity among kitchen appliances.

CAR GUY CORNER

My most recent acquisition is a vehicle that I plan to sell and I am targeting Barret Jackson, Scottsdale Arizona, January 2019. That gives me a year to get it ready for the auction block.

The vehicle is a 1971 GMC Jimmy, 4X4 and is generally, in very good condition. These trucks are becoming very desirable primarily because they seat 5 people, much like an SUV... and you can remove the top and it becomes a convertible.

As I mentioned, this particular example is in very good condition. But the current trend is to remove the old school drivetrain and install a new modern, fuel injected "LS" engine and overdrive transmission. This allows for a quieter, smoother, more reliable AND powerful set-up, while essentially doubling the MPG. I will also add air conditioning.

Click on the picture below to see additional photos with the  top on as well as of the interior:

For those of you that are interested in the specifics, here is the LS3 engine and 4L65E transmission that comes in a complete kit with the harness and computer:

Below is a time-lapse video of an outdoor addition we did in Gilroy.  The results are absolutely stunning, you won't want to miss it!

Domenichini Master Bathroom

It took 7 weeks, but the transformation is complete! Dave and Gina decided to take many items from other customer's designs and incorporate them into their own master bathroom. The must-haves included: a waterfall feature, fireplace, curbless linear drain with a walk-around shower, television, sound system, his & hers heated towel bars and lots of colorful LED lighting.
Check out this quick video of their new bathroom!

JUST FOR LAUGHS :)
