2023-24 CDSS Program Self-Evaluation Forms


The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Child Care and Development Division (CCDD) Child Care Bulletin (CCB) NO. 24-03 describes the Program Self-Evaluation (PSE) requirements of CDSS-subsidized child care and development contractors. The bulletin provides guidance on the submission requirements for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-2024 PSE and a list of all the required documents to be maintained onsite by contract type.


CDSS PSE information is also available on the Desired Results for Children and Families website. (PSE information from the California Department of Education for FY 2023-34 is expected in April.)

Tips for Successfully Setting Up Classes in DRDP Online

 

Is your large agency or school district setting up classes for spring? Try uploading classes with this short tutorial on using upload templates (also available on the WestEd DRDP Resources YouTube channel).

 

Remember, you must first create teacher accounts to create a class. If the teacher(s) already have an account, there is no need to add them again.

Exploring Plants


Young children love to explore living things, including plants. While exploring, caregivers using the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) measures can report and document their observations of individual and group children’s ongoing planting knowledge and skills' progress across the following relative domains:


Developmental Domain: Approaches to Learning–Self-Regulation (ATL-REG)

  • ATL-REG 1: Attention Maintenance
  • ATL-REG 4: Curiosity and Initiative in Learning

Developmental Domain: Cognition, Including Math and Science (COG)

  • COG 9: Inquiry Through Observation and Investigation
  • COG 10: Documentation and Communication of Inquiry
  • COG 11: Knowledge of the Natural World

Developmental Domain: Language and Literacy Development (LLD)

  • LLD 1: Understanding of Language (Receptive)
  • LLD 2: Responsiveness to Language

Developmental Domain: Social and Emotional Development (SED)

  • SED 3: Relationships and Social Interactions with Familiar Adults
  • SED 4: Relationships and Social Interactions with Peers

The child is displaying an understanding and responsiveness to language (LLD 1 and 2), curiosity and initiative in learning (ATL-REG 4), inquiry through observation and investigation (COG 9), documentation and communication of inquiry, and knowledge of the natural world (COG 10 and 11).

CDSS Meal Quality and Nutrition and Physical Activity Forums


The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) will offer a Nutrition and Physical Activity (NPA) Forum on Saturday, March 23. The forum will demonstrate methods for integrating nutrition education, edible gardens, wellness policies, and physical activity into childcare centers and homes. It offers seven 7.0 professional growth hours.



Four Meal Quality (MQ) Forums will be held in April for staff who prepare food for children. The forums highlight healthy meal planning, food purchasing, food preparation, culinary skills, recipe development, and kitchen safety. In-person MQ Forums offer 6.0 professional growth hours.
