Ivis Burris, member of Consumers for Accessible Ride Services (CARS) and DRM Sunshine Folk Advocate, reported on the unreliability of Maryland Transit Administration's (MTA) transit service at the Transit Safety & Investment Act Kickoff Event on Tuesday, Jan. 19th. Her testimony relayed that both she and her son, who attends adult daycare, were repeatedly stranded or forced to deal with vehicles that often break down. These and other failings of the agency's transit program have caused major hardship in the lives of people with disabilities, who need reliable access to transit to get to work, life-saving medical appointments and other critical life activities.
DRM supports the Transit Safety & Investment Act to improve transit safety, promote racial equity and increase integration in our communities. An adequately funded transit system is critical for equal access and inclusion of all people in the community. Click here to learn more >>
