Disability Rights Ohio Attorney Alison McKay Appointed to Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Council
COLUMBUS, OHIO (
December 20, 2019)-- Ohio Governor Mike DeWine recently appointed
Disability Rights Ohio's (DRO) Alison McKay--attorney and Team Leader of the Client Assistance Program--to the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Council (the Council). The Council consists of 15 members who provide feedback to the state agency
Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) on their programs to expand employment opportunities and independence.
DRO worked extensively with the state legislature in 2018 to pass legislation that created the Council, which is essential to comply with federal requirements. Each seat on the Council is appointed by the governor and it must include a majority of members who have a disability.
"I am confident that Alison will exceed expectations during her tenure on the Council. DRO is deeply committed to increasing employment opportunities for Ohioans with disabilities, and we're excited to grow our relationship with OOD as part of this mission," said Michael Kirkman, Executive Director of DRO. "We are incredibly proud of Alison's accomplishments and we're excited for the great work she'll accomplish as a member of the Council."
McKay will serve on the Council as a representative of Disability Rights Ohio beginning October 18, 2019 and ending June 1, 2022. McKay has worked as an attorney at Disability Rights Ohio for the past eight years, diligently representing clients with disabilities.
