NEW Innovative Teaching Tools

Beat the Bot

Dawei Wang (University of Hong Kong), Brian Uzzi (Northwestern University), Haipeng Shen (University of Hong Kong) & Jerry Chai

What happens when human creativity goes head-to-head with advanced AI? Beat the Bot is a fast-paced, 1.5-hour in-class simulation that invites participants to explore the evolving relationship between humans and intelligent systems through a series of interactive decision-making challenges.

Developed to spark curiosity and critical thinking, this experience unfolds in three phases:

  • Individual Decision-Making: Participants tackle real-world dilemmas, testing their instincts and strategies against AI-generated solutions.

  • Team Collaboration: Groups work together to solve problems, learning how human dynamics influence outcomes.

  • Augmented Intelligence: Teams collaborate with AI, exploring how technology can enhance—or complicate—human decision-making.

With 10+ targeted teaching points (explained in detail in the instructor packet), Beat the Bot is ideal for courses on leadership, strategy, innovation, and organizational behavior. It’s a powerful blend of discovery, discussion, and real-world application—designed to leave participants energized and inspired.

Promotion!

A Card Game by Nir Halevy (Stanford University)

A new innovative, interactive card game, Promotion! helps students explore how power, status, and hierarchy are constructed and managed within organizations. At the DRRC, we’ve seen firsthand how this game transforms classrooms. Every round delivers laughs, suspense, and surprises as players compete, cooperate, vote, trade, and strategize their way to the top.

Designed for 4–6 players, Promotion! is perfect for courses, workshops, and team-building sessions. The cards are reusable, and the game box includes everything you need to play.

On the DRRC exercises site, you’ll find a comprehensive instructor packet with teaching notes and a spreadsheet to display results in an engaging format for students.
