Membership Update
We have had a fantastic membership drive--our first ever as a PTO! Thank you to the over 160 families who have joined the PTO, and the many, many families who donated additional funds to get us restarted. During our membership drive, we have raised nearly $2000! As we told you last time, we had to spend down our previous balance before closing our PTA account, or else send the remainder to the national PTA. We invested that previous balance in classroom/teacher support, new playground equipment, and school murals.

Your membership support means that we will be able to invest in our school again next year, with the added flexibility that comes from being a self-governed PTO. If you haven't yet joined the PTO, you may do so online at http://www.discoveryschoolpto.org/membership .

We will have our next general membership meeting on February 14 at 5:30 p.m.
February Box Tops Contest
Collection Dates : February 1-19

How : Send them in a plastic bag or attach to the collection sheet sent home in your child's folder in early February (or download one here )

Why? Discovery School gets 10 cents for every Box Top we send in. Most years we earn over $1000 from Box Tops alone! Also...

The winning class from each grade level will receive an ICE CREAM PARTY!
Spirit Nights are Back!

Spring Book Fair, March 4-8

"Stomp, Chomp, and READ!"
Travel back in time to our Dino-mite Book Fair and discover some new and amazing books! You'll be able to roar through some fantastic titles during our Spring Book Fair, March 4th-8th . The book fair will be open:
  • Monday the 4th through Wednesday the 6th: 7:30am-4:30pm
  • Thursday the 7th ALL DAY during Parent/Teacher Conferences
  • Friday the 8th: 7:30am until we pack up the fair at 1:45pm
We need parent volunteers to make our book fair the best it can be! We have opportunities to help with setup, take down, running registers, assisting shoppers, and donating items. (Plus for volunteering we give you 15% off your book fair purchases!) For more information about volunteering visit our book fair homepage here:   http://www.scholastic.com/bf/discoveryschool3
