Box Tops Notebook
Thank you so much for your support this month. Our Box Tops drive raised $960.10! If you've ever wondered whether all the effort was worth it to clip them, store them, and prepare them for turn-in, now you know! We appreciate you doing it, and we also appreciate you showing up at our Spirit Night at Climb Murfreesboro on February 24. We had 67 climbers and the proceeds to Discovery were $328.67; but just as important was the FUN we had hanging out together. We can't wait to do it again at our next Spirit Night at Chipotle on March 12 (see below) and at our Food Around the World festival in May (also below).
Spring Book Fair, March 4-8

"Stomp, Chomp, and READ!"
Travel back in time to our Dino-mite Book Fair and discover some new and amazing books! You'll be able to roar through some fantastic titles during our Spring Book Fair, March 4th-8th . The book fair will be open: 
  • Monday the 4th through Wednesday the 6th: 7:30am-4:30pm
  • Thursday the 7th ALL DAY during Parent/Teacher Conferences
  • Friday the 8th: 7:30am until we pack up the fair at 1:45pm
We need parent volunteers to make our book fair the best it can be! We have opportunities to help with setup, take down, running registers, assisting shoppers, and donating items. (Plus for volunteering we give you 15% off your book fair purchases!) For more information about volunteering visit our book fair homepage here:

Family Math Night
Please join us on Tuesday, March 12th, from 5 - 7 pm for our Annual DS Family Math Night. The DS gym will be filled with over 40 fun and challenging math games for the entire family! We look forward to seeing you there!

Food Around the World Festival, May

Calling all cultures! We would like to invite you to showcase your unique culinary traditions at our food festival in May (specific date to be determined). We have already heard from several of you, but we invite more of you to contact PTO President Ayat Abu at We would love to feature as many continents and countries as possible, including regional specialties of the U.S.

I have been in education for 20 years and have worked with children from infants to 6th graders. I received my BS and MEd from MTSU. This is my 3rd year with MCS. I love to make learning exciting and fun for my students. I live in Murfreesboro with my husband, 3 children, a dog, and 2 gerbils. When I am not at school, I enjoy reading and traveling with my family.

Discovery School has the BEST parent volunteers. We can always count on your to pitch in at events throughout the year. If you would like to take on a leadership or more formal supporting role in the PTO next year, we would love to hear from you! We will soon be looking for board members and committee chairs, so whether you are good with people or numbers, event planning or technology, or just would like to help in any way needed, we'd love to hear from you!
