Student Registration

With our first day of school fastly approaching on August 24th ,  it is important to know that your child's spot at DSISD is fully secured ONLY after 1) the registration process is completed and 2) she or he has attended a day of classes. The information below will provide an overview of what to expect through the registration process, as well as key tasks that you need to engage in to successfully complete this final step before we start the school year.

DSISD Registration - Staff Contact:
DSISD Administrator Matt Dodge will be coordinating the Student Registration event. Matt will be working with our School Startup Community Liason, Michelle Ricci, to ensure that both Online Verification and in person registrations run smoothly. Please reach out with questions to our main office at 720-424-2000 and/or email Matt directly at:  MATTHEW_DODGE2@dpsk12.org. You may also continue to direct questions towards Mrs. Ricci at dsisd.connect@gmail.com.

Save Time: Online Verification
New this year is the use of the "Online Verification" process as a way to save time on the actual registrations days. O nline verification is only available to students who attended a DPS Middle School during the 2014-15 school year.

ALL students still need to register in person at DSISD during the registration days (8/13 &14). However, completion of the online verification process, which opens on the morning of Monday July 13th, will allow you to move more quickly through the registration process.

For additional information on Online Verification please

or call our main office at 720-424-2000.

R egistration Process Overview

Student Registration Format :
Registration will follow a station format with families visiting 6-7 tables that have key information and tasks for completion. Although we were previously allowing families to choose which day to come to registration, in order to streamline the process,  we are now asking families to come on days specific to where the student's last name falls in the alphabet:

DSISD Student Registration Days:
Thursday August 13th  (Last Names: A-M)
Friday August 14th ( Last Names: N-Z)

Time:
Either 7:30-10:00am  OR 2:00-5:30pm both days

*Please note that if you have circumstances that require you to come on a day other than those listed above you can reach out to Matt Dodge or Michelle Ricci to craft a plan for getting your child registered.

Registration tables and tasks will include the following:
  • Essential Policies: Student & Family Handbook, technology policy, and Code of Conduct
  • Student Contracts:  technology, leadership & professional behavior committment
  • Student Fees & PE Shirt Orders (technology, expediations, gym T shirt)
  • Transportation information: Carpool, Public Transit Guide, etc.
  • Personal Information Collection: Assessment data (Math), Medical forms, IEPs, 504, ELA services, food & lunch plan, etc.
  • Student Schedules & FLEX Course Finalization: Get schedule and confirm FLEX choice
  • Data Verification and Final Registration: confirmation of info and registration

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) Meeting #1:
Collaboratively Crafting Our School Design

Our first PAC/BPAC (Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee) meeting will be held on July 21st from 6:30-8:00pm in Room 220 at the DSISD Byers Campus.

The meeting will be anchored in collaborative school design and we will review the history of how the DSISD model has been developed, the results of summer design work, and the areas of the school model where we are seeking more student, family, and partner feedback.

In addition, we will discuss the implications and advantages of the DSISD team's decision to pursue Innovation Status as a way to provide comprehensive planning around the school's design, especially in the areas of time, finances, and human capital.

Please come out to learn and provide input on your child's school!

We will have an interpreter present for Spanish speaking families.
If you have other language needs please reach out and let us know.

Rafting Trip Was A Major Hit!

Six of our adventurous DSISD students hit the white water this weekend with Lead Science Teacher Jessica Goldstein as part of an introduction to the Outdoor Leadership & Sustainability FLEX class. The rafting trip took place on the Arkansas River where we floated and camped out, and the crew even got to hit some class IV-V rapids in the Royal Gorge! We are glad to say we all came back in one piece - tired but smiling. :)

Many thanks to The Greenway Foundation for organizing & our guides at Raft Masters for navigating us safely through the waters, and also to the other participants from KIPP Colorado and East High School.

We are looking forward to more trips as part of the Greenway Leadership Corps and the Outdoor Leadership class. Keep your eyes peeled for more action shots on the river coming to our Facebook and Instagram pages soon! See below for a sneak peak...

Coming up soon is the Fire Ecology Trip to Phantom Canyon on July 31st & August 1st - we can't wait! Look for an email with more information this week if your student is attending the trip.
