The chapter will culminate the celebration on June 20, 2026, with an evening of elegance at the highly anticipated 90th Charter Day Celebration Gala. Both events are open to the public.

Established on June 20, 1936, by eleven extraordinary women of faith, courage, and conviction, the chapter has flourished as a beacon of excellence. Through their bold initiative, the foundation was laid for generations of women committed to advancing the Sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement, while advancing the standard of service, scholarship, and social action throughout Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard Parishes.
“This anniversary observance provides an opportunity to highlight the New Orleans Alumnae Chapter’s legacy of impactful programming and distinguished service throughout our community,” said Tracey L. Rollins, Chapter President. “For 90 years, this chapter has stood at the forefront of scholarship, public service, economic empowerment, and social advocacy— developing initiatives that address pressing needs and produce measurable, lasting results.”
The 90th Anniversary Week of Celebrations will feature a series of commemorative events
designed to honor the chapter’s history of service, sisterhood, and influence. In addition to the gala and the Ecumenical Service, the chapter will participate in nine signature community service initiatives.
Members will visit the historic Lafon Nursing Home, the oldest nursing facility in the nation, along with three additional senior care centers across Orleans, St. Bernard, and Jefferson Parishes.
The chapter will also spearhead a comprehensive voter registration initiative, engage in service partnerships at Hope Haven and the Eden Centers, participate in a Habitat for Humanity build, and coordinate a Jamaica Relief Fund Drive supporting recovery efforts following Hurricane Melissa.
“The 90th Anniversary Week of Celebrations has been thoughtfully curated to unite members, community partners, elected officials, and supporters in reflection on our historic contributions and continued relevance,” said Belencia Breaux, Immediate Past President and Chair of the 90th Anniversary Committee. “We are honored to share this milestone with our service area of Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard Parishes and beyond, elevating awareness of social issues impacting African Americans globally.”
Originally chartered as Alpha Zeta Sigma Chapter, later renamed Alpha Eta Sigma before
adopting its present designation as the New Orleans Alumnae Chapter, NOA remains a pillar of leadership and advocacy. For nine decades, its members, composed of college-educated women committed to service, have driven meaningful change, elevating communities and cultivating sustained growth and advancement.
Recognized as a formidable force in Delta leadership, NOA is home to distinguished members who have served in National and Regional elected office within the Sorority, as well as in numerous state-level leadership capacities. Among its most notable leaders is Delta’s 24 National President and the Honorary Chair of NOA’s Charter Day Celebration, Cynthia M. A. Butler-McIntyre, who previously served as a Southwest Regional Director and as NOA’s Chapter President from 1991-1993. Such exemplary leadership underscores the chapter’s prominence, influence, and a sustained standard of excellence that continues to shape the trajectory of the New Orleans Alumnae Chapter.
“As we celebrate 90 years of public service, bold social advocacy, and the empowerment of young people worldwide, we reaffirm our dedication to uplifting African American women and families through scholarship and service, guided by the servants and champions of justice who laid the foundation and forged pathways for us to follow,” said Butler-McIntyre. “I look forward to uniting with Sorors, community leaders and elected officials, program partners, and friends of Delta for a celebration honoring our Chapter’s rich legacy and its impact on our region and beyond.”
As part of the celebration, the chapter will recognize community leaders, charter members, and past presidents whose vision and dedication have shaped its enduring legacy.
