DSpace Annual Report
As 2024 comes to a close, we gratefully reflect on our shared achievements and key developments within the DSpace community. Our 2023-24 Annual Report, released in October 2024, highlights DSpace’s success in serving its community. We are looking forward to next year and anticipate the release of DSpace 9.0 in May of 2025.

TECHNICAL UPDATE
The DSpace Committers Group Welcomes One New Member
We are happy to announce that Sascha Szott has been approved as DSpace Committers. Please join us in welcoming Sascha!
Development work on DSpace version 9.0 is currently in full swing
A number of new features and ideas are going to be included. Follow along by visiting the 9.0 Release Status page on the wiki. DSpace Leadership has officially approved the move of the 9.0 release date from April to May of 2025. An updated draft of the release schedule can be found on the Developers Meeting page.
DSpace 8.1 and 7.6.3
We are currently working on bug fix releases for version 8.1 and 7.6.3. The release date for these versions has not yet been finalized.
DSpace and DSpace-CRIS intent to investigate merger
In case you missed it, DSpace Governance announced an intent to investigate a merger of DSpace and DSpace-CRIS in October. You can find the announcement on the DSpace Community Google Group. Governance is currently in the process of forming two planning groups to undertake this investigation: one focused on strategic issues related to a potential merger, and one to develop a technology roadmap for potentially combining the codebases. Updates will be shared with the community as new developments occur.
