DUI MAT Starts Strong in April
|
The DUI MAT Project welcomed new DUI MAT clients with services offered at all locations beginning April 1, 2021. Additionally, DUI MAT Partner clients completed 2,432 prescreens in the first month.
The project utilizes the DAST prescreen to facilitate awareness of addiction tendencies or practices. Once a client engages with DUI MAT services, he or she steps to the next level of assessment with the ASAM Criteria, a comprehensive set of guidelines for placement, continued to stay, transfer, or discharge of patients with addiction and co-occurring conditions.
The DUI MAT team received ASAM-based Criteria training at the May project webinar. The training was developed and presented by John Durbin, Training and Development Coordinator/ Co-Chair M.A.T. Inclusion Coalition Committee/Celebrating Families, National Trainer for Bridges Professional Treatment Services/STARS. The next webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3. Register at the link below. We look forward to seeing you there!

ECS ACCORD MAT Team have the knowledge, experience, and resources to help clients seeking addiction treatment services
By Stacie Perez, Director of Housing and Clinical Services

Episcopal Community Services ACCORD DUI Program has been a licensed DUI treatment provider since 1985. The ACCORD DUI Program was thrilled to be chosen for the first round MAT grant, the extension, and now the SOR 2.
The staff and MAT team at the ACCORD DUI Program have continued to provide high-quality services via Telehealth throughout the pandemic, and continue to do prescreens on all new enrollments.
Theresa Gamez has been ACCORD’s MAT Counselor during the first round and extension. Monya Davis has taken over the role for the SOR 2. Both Theresa and Monya have over 10 years of experience each working at ACCORD and many more years than that working in the SUD field.
One of the MAT clients who successfully completed commented in his Exit Survey,
“My MAT Counselor was very knowledgeable and was able to connect me with a provider to administer medication. The medication and my treatment plan have been working very well up to this point.”
The other ACCORD MAT Team members include Carolina Gallardo, Administrative Supervisor, Mustafa Nasheed, Program Manager, and Stacie Perez, Director of Housing and Clinical Services.

YOUTH PEER MENTOR PROGRAM
In 2019, Continuity Consulting (CCI) launched the Youth Peer Mentor Program (YPMP) with the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to train justice-involved youth to provide recovery support to peers and assist them with their SUD/OUD and rehabilitative challenges.
Continuity Consulting is expanding YPMP to include transitional age youth (TAY) and other justice-involved youth throughout California. Continuity Consulting will deliver a modified program using a hybrid model of asynchronous training, video mentoring, and an interactive, online community.

29 California Pain Management Centers Closing
|
|
|
Patients taking opioid or other controlled medications on a daily basis are at extremely high risk if they lose access to their regular prescriber, such as after a clinic closure. Patients must urgently be connected to a new provider, before medications run out and withdrawal symptoms start. Withdrawal symptoms are usually severe, which can lead patients to seek out illicit drugs. Many illicit drugs are contaminated with fentanyl, and use can lead to accidental overdose death.
Access a special document with resources for displaced pain management clients.
