During these unprecedented times that we’re all facing, we are doing our best to remain calm, informed, safe, and healthy, while making the best decisions possible based on the available information. We want you to know that we are closely monitoring any necessary modifications to our daily operations due to government mandates, so we can ensure the continued top-quality care that we provide to the dogs in our program. We are committed to doing the most prudent things possible for adopters as well as our staff and their families so that we all remain healthy and safe.
The kennel is extremely full, and we have no idea how the current situation might affect our intakes. We are prepared to continue to transport dogs to Golden Gateway if necessary and will advise our Transport Team volunteers to practice social distancing and proper hand sanitizing. We had a successful Monthly Open House on Saturday; however, we are uncertain if we will be able to hold the next one scheduled for April 11th. Right now, our plan is to continue our operations as normally as possible – with recommended precautions taken for people coming on-site to relinquish their dogs or for adoption appointments. We will continue to process applications; however, we are suspending the home visit portion of the application process and will strictly utilize phone interviews, Google Earth, and requested photo submissions from applicants.
Based on the CDC’s recommendation to postpone gatherings of 10 or more people, we have decided to cancel the Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for Saturday, March 28th. With regard to our Golden Gala scheduled for April 18th, we will continue to monitor the situation and make a decision by April 1st regarding cancellation or rescheduling. Please understand that this is a very difficult decision as the Golden Gala is our premier fundraising event of the year, and DVGRR relies heavily on that income to continue our operations. However, we are preparing a Plan B if cancellation is required for the safety of our DVGRR family and will make you aware of that as soon as details are finalized.
Due to the call for retail closures for the next two weeks, our Pap's Place on-site store will be closed. If you need dog food, please call us (717-484-4799) weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m to order via credit card. We'll have your food waiting under the porch area and clearly identified with your name.
There is palpable concern here at Golden Gateway as we navigate these unchartered waters. We are very grateful for your support and please understand that we need your continued support now more than ever. We want you to know that the dogs are well-cared for, and we’re certain our incredible staff will continue to rise to the challenges.
