EARTH CONSTITUTION WATCH

Article 14.1.2 [Certain Safeguards] Assure freedom of choice within the member nations of the Federation of Earth to determine their internal political, economic and social systems consistent with the guarantees and protections given under the World Constitution to assure civil liberties and human rights and a safe environment for life, and otherwise consistent with the several provisions of this World Constitution.

Editor: Earth Constitution (EC) principles include separation of church and state, and "unity in diversity". The EC also protects the right for a nation to have whatever economic/political system it chooses, be it capitalism, socialism, communism, or some mixture of these ideologies. Personally, I feel that a mixture of socialism and capitalism is the most desirable, and most effective.

Compared to the UN, the EC has a well thought out World Judiciary and Enforcement System. Law and order is necessary for a civilized society to function safely and securely. The alternative, which we see in these illegal wars (eg, Iran, Lebanon, Palestine/Gaza, Venezuela, Cuba) and threats of war (Greenland, Canada, Taiwan) are a result of the flawed United Nations Charter which prevents the UN from doing its primary job -- ending the scourge of war.

White Christian nationalism is a threat to freedom, democracy, and civil rights. We must reject theocracy, defend liberty and justice for all, and build power to the people.

Extremist white Christian nationalists are trying to drag this country backward into a government where one narrow religious ideology controls our laws, our classrooms, our bodies, our families, and our futures. They want to erase the wall between church and state and replace democracy with domination. They dress up cruelty as faith, call oppression “freedom,” and pretend their hunger for power is somehow ordained.

White Christian nationalists believe the US was founded as a Christian nation, although the Constitution never mentions God and enshrines the separation of church and state. Its adherents twist biblical language to justify violence, sexism and hostility toward people of color.” ¹

They cloak cruelty in religion. However, the Constitution—the true foundation of this country—explicitly separates church and state.

Theocracy is a relic of the past, much like monarchy: a system where those in power claim their authority comes from God or has been divinely approved. In a theocracy, there is no real separation of church and state. Government becomes a weapon for one approved religion, while other faiths are demonized, scapegoated, pushed out, or punished simply for existing.

But let’s be clear: the Constitution is the foundation of this country—not any one religious doctrine. America was not built to be a theocracy. Last Saturday, a 31-year-old Italian man drove into pedestrians in Modena, a city in northern Italy, known as the birthplace of Enzo Ferrari, the entrepreneur who founded Scuderia Ferrari. The attacker seriously injured seven people, then abandoned the car and attempted to escape on foot. He was then caught by an Egyptian father and son, who took him down, despite him having a knife, and restrained him until the arrival of the police.

The name of this man is Salim El-Koudri, an Italian of Moroccan descent, born and raised in Bergamo, the heart of the country’s industrial region, who graduated in Economics from the University of Modena. Investigators have already ruled out any terrorist scenario, affirming that the attack is most probably related “to a situation of psychiatric distress.” Italian social media users, however, could not let go of that foreign-sounding surname: El-Koudri, and began attaching the label “Islamic” to his name.

Religious bigotry against Muslims

Italian media persistently perpetuates false information and polarises the debate around Islam, whose creed remains significantly misrepresented and unknown among the wider population despite Islam being the second-largest religion in the country. ...

It was only in 2001 when George W. Bush described the war on terror as “a very long struggle against evil,” that the mechanism of linguistic transformation was activated. Italian journalists and commentators began to fuel the perception of an imminent Islamic invasion. Since the Global War on Terror, Italian magazines and publishers regularly fuel the myths of Islamic intolerance toward Christmas, even depicting—and misrepresenting—related local celebrations in public spaces.

...  They then create caricatures of Muslims, asking them questions such as whether they believe in sharia, taking their affirmative answer as proof of their radicalisation.

Critics of U.S. policy toward Cuba argue that our current posture—complete with talk of arresting Raúl Castro for something that happened thirty years ago, escalating sanctions, and tightening a blockade that has now lasted more than six decades—has crossed the line from strategic firmness into political insanity. They say it is a policy driven less by national interest and more by inertia, symbolism, and domestic political theater. And in 2026, the consequences are no longer abstract. They are human, immediate, and devastating.

The proposal circulating in Washington to pursue the arrest of Raúl Castro—now a frail man in his mid-nineties—has become a symbol of this broader dysfunction. Supporters frame it as accountability; critics call it a performative gesture that risks igniting a crisis with no strategic upside. As one analyst put it, the idea is “less a policy than a provocation,” a move that would inflame tensions without improving democracy, human rights, or stability on the island.

Reported deaths of Cuban children from U.S. blockade

But the Castro‑arrest debate is only the most theatrical piece of a much larger problem: the continuation and intensification of the U.S. blockade. For decades, the embargo has been defended as leverage. Yet critics argue that in 2026 it functions more like a blunt instrument—one that hits civilians hardest while failing to produce meaningful political change. The blockade’s restrictions on fuel, medical equipment, and financial transactions have contributed to rolling blackouts across Cuba. Hospitals, already strained, have reported outages so severe that children in intensive care units have died when electricity failed. These tragedies are not hypothetical; they are documented by humanitarian organizations that have pleaded for exemptions and corridors that never materialized.

To many observers, this is where the “insanity” becomes undeniable. A policy ostensibly designed to promote human rights is now implicated in humanitarian suffering. A strategy meant to pressure the Cuban government has instead entrenched it, giving Havana a perpetual external enemy to blame for internal failures. And a blockade intended to isolate Cuba diplomatically has instead isolated the United States, as nearly every nation on Earth—year after year—votes at the United Nations to condemn it.

The contradictions pile up. Washington insists it supports the Cuban people, yet the sanctions make it harder for those very people to access medicine, food, and electricity. U.S. officials argue that Cuba poses a threat, yet simultaneously describe it as a small, impoverished island with limited military capacity. The administration claims to champion democracy yet continues a policy that most Americans—across party lines—say they oppose. It is a foreign policy that seems to survive not because it works, but because it is politically easier to maintain than to rethink.

The 2026 escalation has also revived Cold War‑style rhetoric that feels wildly out of step with global realities. While the United States deepens its standoff with Havana, the rest of Latin America has moved on, forging trade agreements, energy partnerships, and diplomatic ties that bypass Washington entirely. Even U.S. allies quietly question why America remains locked in a posture that resembles a time capsule from 1962.

As of May 2026, both China and Russia have strongly condemned United States actions against its neighbor, characterizing U.S. policy as illegal "aggression," "coercion," and a "sanctions noose" that borders on violence. Amidst rising tensions Beijing and Moscow have reaffirmed their commitment to support Havana, providing both diplomatic backing and material aid to the island nation.

Critics argue that the blockade has become a kind of political autopilot. What is the goal of the present policy? If it’s a regime change, the policy has failed for 60 years. If the goal is human rights, the policy is harming the very people it claims to protect. If the goal is geopolitical leverage, the policy has ceded influence to other powers who step in where the United States refuses to engage.

Why not allow Cuba to thrive and prosper?

The tragedy is that alternatives exist. Engagement, diplomacy, and economic opening have shown promise in the past. When restrictions were eased in the mid‑2010s, Cuban entrepreneurs flourished, remittances flowed, and civil society grew more confident. Critics argue that this—not isolation—is what genuine support for the Cuban people looks like.

Instead, 2026 finds the United States doubling down on a strategy that has produced neither freedom nor stability. And the cost is measured not in abstract geopolitical terms, but in the lives of ordinary Cubans—families navigating blackouts, hospitals struggling to keep the lights on, and children whose survival should never depend on the outcome of a foreign policy debate.

If insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results, then America’s current approach to Cuba fits the definition with uncomfortable precision.

In a sign that the US is preparing for yet another evil war, Marco Rubio is now claiming that Cuba poses a “national security threat” to the United States, saying the likelihood of a peaceful agreement is “not high”.

“Cuba not only has weapons that they’ve acquired from Russia and China over the years, but they also host Russian and Chinese intelligence presence in their country — not far from where we’re standing right now,” Rubio told the press on Thursday. “So Cuba has always posed a national security threat to the United States. They, by the way, have been one of the leading sponsors of terrorism in the entire region.”

America's criminal foreign policy never rests

The excuses for military action are already being rolled out. This happens as US war machinery relocates to the Caribbean, and as Cuba flounders under a crushing US oil blockade that is already inflicting a severe humanitarian toll. 

And everyone knows it’s all based on lies. You know it. I know it. Marco Rubio knows it. The war propagandists know it. The gusanos brigading social media begging for war know it. We all know it’s a sham.

Not one person sincerely believes Cuba poses a threat to the United States.

Nobody actually thinks that a tiny, impoverished island nation is preparing to launch a war of aggression against the United States.

If things cool down with Iran, then it’s a safe bet they’re going in for the kill shot on Cuba. The US empire never makes peace, it just moves the crosshairs of its war machinery from nation to nation.

We see this over and over again.

Yay! The troops are leaving Afghanistan — oh, now they’re waging a proxy war in Ukraine.

Excellent, they’re deescalating against Yemen — whoa, now they’re kidnapping the president of Venezuela.

Oh hey, it looks like the mass slaughter in Gaza has slowed down — oh, now they’re going to war with Iran.

Look, they’re pulling thousands of troops out of Germany — oh, it’s so they can move them to Poland!

Hey these Iran negotiations are finally getting somewhere — ah man, now they’re invading Cuba.

Over and over and over and over again. As soon as the human butchery slows down in one place, it picks up somewhere else.

When the first Chadian officers arrived in Port-au-Prince on April 1 without ceremony, without a press conference and without so much as a photograph released by Haitian authorities, it was considered, nevertheless, a significant moment. The troops from the Francophone central African country signaled the opening deployment of the militaristic Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the new United Nations-authorized multinational mission designed to do what its underfunded, undermanned predecessor could not: Break the stranglehold of armed gangs that increasingly control large swaths of the Haitian capital and have pushed more than 1.4 million people from their homes.

“We are not starting from zero, but we are starting differently,” Christofides told the Council on April 23, referring to establishing the GSF. “The GSF has been built as a disciplined, accountable and partnership-driven mission, designed to deliver targeted security results while upholding the highest standards of conduct and full respect for Haitian sovereignty.”

Meanwhile, the UN’s special representative to Haiti, Carlos Ruiz-Massieu, told reporters on the same day that all 5,500 military and police multinational personnel should be on the ground “between the fall and the end of the year” — more than a year after the GSF was authorized — but its operations are supposed to start on June 1.

Yet, as the first foreign contingents arrive in a staggered fashion, a lingering question is how the GSF will operate amid the American private security firms that are working with Haiti’s government and police. Some of the private contractors are reportedly carrying out deadly drone warfare in densely populated neighborhoods of the capital.

The GSF’s mandate allows the new force to conduct intelligence-led anti-gang operations, secure infrastructure, support humanitarian access and work with the Haitian National Police and Haitian Armed Forces with the explicit authority to arrest gang members and recover their weapons. The funding picture for the GSF appears more robust than the MSS, though it remains incomplete.

An overly complicated setup

Christofides will report to the Standing Group of Partners and to the UN Security Council; Major General Batsuuri reports to Christofides. The GSF is set up to work with several immediate partners in a collaboration that defies diagramming. It includes the Organization of American States regional body; the UN political mission in Haiti (BINUH), run by Ruiz-Massieu; and a new UN entity, the UN Support Office in Haiti, or UNSOH. Its role was approved in the Security Council mandate of the GSF. READ MORE

"Let us stop telling people and our children that there is only one way to govern ourselves and a singular future towards which all societies must evolve. It is wrong. It is irresponsible. ..."

       Joseph de Maister 18^th-century French lawyer, diplomat and political philosopher is known for having said: “Every nation gets the government it deserves.” This statement alludes to the fact that every nation is ultimately responsible to itself for how it conducts its own internal affairs. If a state has a bad government and corrupt leaders, it’s because the people making up that state have established for itself a bad government. In other words, the blame for America’s current global and national malaise lies with the American people. The deranged, delusional, convicted sex-offender malignant narcissist, pedophile, presently occupying the White House, is there because the American people placed him there, want him there; along with the incompetent, inexperienced sycophants who surround him. The United States deserves such an unfit, unqualified, inept government.

For more than half a century, America has lost every war it has started, including the current war with Iran. As noted by Harlan K. Ullman in Anatomy of Failure: Why America Loses Every War it Starts, “America has also failed in military interventions it has initiated, interventions undertaken for reasons that turned out to be misinformed, contrived, baseless, ignorant, or just wrong” (1). One unavoidable, even obvious, reason for these decades of monumental, catastrophic failures is the inexperience and lack of knowledge of what passes as United States leadership. Those in power in the U.S. have no experience at all in governance, diplomacy or military matters. Whiteness and the promotion of White Supremacy is the sine qua non for their position, their national and international policies. And, until we tap into the genius of America’s diverse reality we will be mired in the mendacious mediocrity of white exclusivity.

 China has a higher standard for government officials 

A cursory look at the qualifications to be a government official in China easily exposes the neophytes masquerading as American leadership. Godfree Roberts in Why China Leads the World: Democracy at the Bottom, Data in the Middle, Talent at the Top states: “In addition to the moral uprightness required for Party membership, government officials must demonstrate extraordinary intelligence, competence, and self-discipline” (49). These criteria alone would disqualify each and every one of the current U.S. Administration. Roberts continues: “The twenty-seven thousand who succeed will earn their first promotion after they have lived in poverty-stricken villages and raised local incomes by fifty percent” (49). Whoosh, there goes the rest of the U.S. government officials.

Xi Jinping, China’s current president, the son of a former leader, which is very unusual, is the first of his kind to make the top job. Even for him, the career took 30 years. He started as a village manager, and by the time he entered the Politburo, he had managed areas with a total population of 150 million people and combined GDPs of 1.5 trillion U.S. dollars. George W. Bush, before becoming governor of Texas, or Barack Obama before running for president and certainly not the current U.S. president, could not make even a small county manager in China’s system. It took Xi Jinping 30 years of experience in governance to reach the top position; not time as a celebrity TV host, TV news talking head, or son-in-law or golfing buddy of the president. 

Of course, China is not perfect. The country faces enormous challenges. The social and economic problems that come with accelerated change, like China has experienced, are complex. Pollution is one. Food safety and population issues are others. On the political front, the worst problem is corruption. Corruption is widespread and undermines the system and its legitimacy. But most analysts misdiagnose the disease. They say that corruption is the result of the one-party system, and therefore, in order to cure it, you have to do away with the entire system.

Democratic elections becoming a cycle of "elect and regret"

In contrast, most electoral democracies around the world are suffering from dismal performance when it comes to satisfaction with the direction of the country. From Washington to Europe, with few exceptions, the vast number of developing countries that have adopted electoral regimes are still suffering from poverty and civil strife. Rebecca Riddell, Oxfam America’s Economic Justice Senior Policy Lead said: “Today’s Census data affirms the shameful fact that the U.S. remains one of the most unequal rich countries in the world. The wealthiest among us amass unthinkable fortunes, while millions of people live in poverty.” Governments get elected, and then they fall below 50 percent approval in a few months and stay there and get worse until the next election. Democracy, it seems, is becoming a perpetual cycle of elect and regret. At this rate, it appears that it is democracy, as known in the west, and not China’s one-party system, that is in danger of losing legitimacy.

China successes deserve western attention

China’s political model will never supplant electoral democracy, because unlike the latter, it does not pretend to be universal. It cannot be exported. But that is the point precisely. The significance of China’s example is not that it provides an alternative, but the demonstration that alternatives exist. Communism and democracy may both be laudable ideals, but the era of simple, dogmatic universalism is over.

Will capitalists panic as interest in socialism grows?

Let us stop telling people and our children that there is only one way to govern ourselves and a singular future towards which all societies must evolve. It is wrong. It is irresponsible. And worst of all it is boring. Let us universally make way for plurality. Perhaps a more interesting age is upon us, an age of multipolarity. Are we brave enough to welcome it? In fact, a Heartland/Rasmussen Poll indicated that 53% of young voters aged 18-39 said they would like to see a democratic socialist candidate win the 2028 presidential election. And 76% said they agree that “Major industries like health care, energy and big tech should be nationalized to give more control and equity to the people.”

The point is that we should get unstuck from the thinking that there is only one political system – election, election, election – that could make it responsive. It is uncertain that elections produce responsive government anymore in the world. Especially, when there is no critical path or qualification for government officials other than celebrity and wealth.
