WORLD PUBLIC INTEREST JOURNALISM

The concept of "sovereignty" has real appeal to individual nations as it implies independence and freedom to do whatever one wants to do. Yet violations of sovereignty happen all of the time: US/NATO attack and destroy Iraq, Libya and more; Russia invades Ukraine; Israel bombs Iran and Syria; etc. The list of world crimes of aggression is long. Accountability is problematic as the UN, International Criminal Court, and World Court lack enforcement powers which allow criminal leaders to hide behind "sovereignty" and never face the Law.

Currently, there is no sheriff in town at the global level. Criminal leaders of Bully nations have no fear of international law. Enforceable world law will require having world federal marshals or, if the Earth Constitution replaces the obsolete UN Charter, Earth Federation marshals to apprehend suspected world criminals.

Criminal leaders of rogue nations are happy to reject the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court. New York City's candidate for mayor, Zohran Mamdani, said that if elected he would have the NYC police arrest Israel's Netanyahu on behalf of the ICC for genocide (WSJ, 9/17/25). Lawyer Alan Dershowitz, who wrote this WSJ article, provided numerous reasons why such a "stunt" would be "sinister".

Although Giraldi's article (below) correctly identifies Big Money political donations (a form of legal bribery), he fails to mention Israel's possible use of blackmail-- the Epstein/Maxwell sexual honey pot operation some believe was run by the Mossad. ... Israel controls many aspects of America’s government, its economy, its education system, its media, and, most of all, its foreign and national security policies. Little Israel commands and the superpower United States obeys, a relationship that has coined the expression “the tail wags the dog.”

Donald Trump who reportedly received $100 million as a campaign donation from Israeli Las Vegas casino magnate Miriam Adelson, plausibly in exchange for Israel having a free hand in the West Bank, up to and including total annexation and deportation of the inhabitants to eliminate a possible Palestinian state.

 In the United States, this Zionist Lobby power has produced a series of presidents terrified to object to what Israel declares to be its interests, plus a Congress that has been bought and manipulated into total submission to war criminals like Israel’s ghastly Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Even the US Constitution is no defense against Israel’s interests, with First Amendment free speech rights being abridged through the interpretation that any criticism of the self-described Jewish state is ipso facto a hate crime, which is a felony.

 Regrettably, the United States is completely complicit in the atrocity that is taking place in Gaza which is clearly visible to the entire world. And the US is even paying for and providing the arms for the slaughter. There is a certain irony in the fact that Washington funds the war for Israel, which has both free medical care and free higher education for its Jewish citizens, something that many American citizens are reportedly struggling with. ...

 ... Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Wednesday, reportedly had begun to entertain some criticism of Israel which had resulted in threats that led him to employ bodyguards.

 ... Suspension from the UN and the insertion of an international protection force in Gaza to stop the genocide are being discussed under the “Uniting for Peace” resolution, which empowers the General Assembly to recommend such steps to take when the Security Council is unable to act due to the expected US veto.  

... But never fear, Donald Trump will receive his orders from Benjamin Netanyahu and the US will do everything in its power as the rogue state it has become to stop any such action, including threats of sanctions and even violence against those promoting those moves, just as the US has done with the International Criminal Court and other bodies seeking an end to Israel’s war crimes. "At the very same time that Trump is ordering strikes on a boat in Venezuela, he's cutting, gutting the programs that we use to interrupt the drug trade coming through Central America and Mexico," said Sen. Chris Murphy.

As new details emerged about the boat that the Trump administration bombed last week off the Venezuelan coast, legal experts and lawmakers said Wednesday that the White House’s case for carrying out the unprecedented military strike against suspected drug smugglers had grown even weaker—with new evidence showing the vessel had turned away from the US, back toward Venezuela, just before it was bombed.

Legal analysts have said in the days since the attack that killed 11 people that the bombing amounted to an extrajudicial murder, dismissing President Donald Trump’s claim that the White House has “tapes of [the victims] speaking” that proved they were members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua—the only “evidence” that’s been made public.

The dispossession of the working class, 30 million who have been laid off because of deindustrialization, has engendered rage, despair, dislocation, alienation and fostered magical thinking. It has fed conspiracy theories, a lust for vengeance and a celebration of violence as a purgative for social and cultural decay.

Christian fascists — like Kirk and Trump — have astutely preyed on this despair. They stoked the embers. Kirk’s killing will set it alight.

Dissidents, artists, gays, intellectuals, the poor, the vulnerable, people of color, those who are undocumented or who do not mindlessly repeat the cant of a perverted Christian nationalism, will be condemned as human contaminants to be excised from the body politic. They will become, as in all diseased societies, sacrificial victims in the vain attempt to achieve moral renewal and recapture a lost glory and prosperity.

The cannibalization of society, a futile attempt to recreate a mythical America, will accelerate the disintegration. The intoxication of violence — many of those reacting to Kirk’s killing seemed giddy about a looming bloodbath — will feed on itself like a firestorm.

The idea that he championed free speech and liberty is absurd. He was an enemy of both.

Kirk, who was a cheerleader for the cult of Trump, embodied the hypermasculinity that is at the core of fascist movements. This was perhaps his primary attraction to youth, especially white men. He claimed there is “a war on men,” fetishized guns and sold Trump to his followers as a man’s man. READ MORE

The white Christian nationalist provocateur wasn’t a promoter of civil discourse. He preached hate, bigotry, and division

Charles James Kirk, 31, died on Wednesday from a gunshot to the neck at a Utah Valley University campus event just as he was trying to deflect a question about mass shootings by suggesting they were largely a function of gang violence.

He died with a net worth of $12 million, which he made by espousing horrific and bigoted views in the name of advancing Christian nationalism. The foundation of his empire was the group he cofounded and led, Turning Point USA, which is a key youth-recruitment arm of the MAGA movement.

Kirk was able to launch Turning Point at the age of 18 because he received money from Tea Party member Bill Montgomery, right-wing donor Foster Feiss, and his own father, also a prolific right-wing donor. He was an unrepentant racist, transphobe, homophobe, and misogynist who often wrapped his bigotry in Bible verses because there was no other way to pretend that it was morally correct. He had children, as do many vile people.

There is no requirement to take part in this whitewashing campaign, and refusing to join in doesn’t make anyone a bad person. It’s a choice to write an obituary that begins “Joseph Goebbels was a gifted marketer and loving father to six children.”

It’s this that makes it particularly galling to see him cast by some as a free-speech warrior. He created a professor watchlist explicitly designed to get academics fired who dared talk about the right’s usual assortment of verboten topics—anything to do with race or gender, in particular. He also offered the standard right-wing plaint about left-wing indoctrination in American universities even as he went on campus tours trying to indoctrinate young people into his hard-right Christian nationalist worldview. READ MORE

At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in China, Eurasia discussed a new international economic order based on mutually beneficial trade and investment.

The great problem, of course, is that the Americans want to blow up the world if they can’t control it and dominate all other countries. Alastair Crooke warned that the Evangelical Christian movement sees this as an opportunity for a conflagration that will see Jesus return and convert the world to Christian jihadism. 

9 Sep 2025 – The Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s meeting in Tianjin, China on September 1 took a remarkable step forward in defining how the world will be dividing into two great blocs, as Global Majority countries seek to free their economies not only from Donald Trump’s tariff chaos, but from the U.S. government’s increasingly Hot War attempts to impose unipolar control on the entire world’s economy, by isolating countries seeking to resist this control with trade and monetary chaos, as well as direct military confrontation.

The press treatment of the SCO meetings and its geopolitical discussions has a remarkable similarity with its treatment of NATO’s war against Russia in Ukraine. Both events are seen as if they are all about the United States (and its allies), not about China, Russia, India, Central Asian nations, and other countries acting to promote their own attempts to create orderly and mutually beneficial trade and investment.

Just as the war in Ukraine is depicted as a Russian invasion (with no mention of its defense against NATO’s attack on Russia’s own security), the SCO summit in Tianjin and subsequent meetings in Beijing were depicted as confrontational scheming against the West, as if the meetings were about the United States and Europe.

Two dynamics are at work. On the one hand, the BRICS and Global Majority are trying to defend themselves against US/NATO economic aggression, and to de-dollarize their economies so as to minimize trade dependence on the U.S. market. That saves them from the U.S. weaponizing its foreign trade and monetary system and from blocking their access to supply chains that have been put in place, thereby disrupting their economies.

The other dynamic is that the U.S. economy is becoming less attractive as it polarizes and shrinks, as a result of its financialization and rising debt overhead. It is becoming inflationary, subject to a debt-leveraged financial bubble that is at increasing risk of sudden collapse.

This basic moral contrast catalyzes the contrast of economic systems and policy between oligarchic privatized and financialized markets (neoliberalism) and industrial socialist economies. This socialism is the logical extension of the dynamic of early industrial capitalism, seeking to rationalize production and minimize waste and unnecessary costs imposed by rent-seeking classes demanding income without playing a productive role – landlords, monopolists, and the financial sector.
