EARTH CONSTITUTION WATCH

Under the UN Charter's governing system we see that international criminal behavior is widespread: Mass murder (genocide), illegal economic warfare (sanctions and blockades), and felons getting pardons. We learn that the European Union is preparing for war against Russia. The US weapons industry is thriving with multiple current wars and plans moving forward for future wars. Always an invented enemy somewhere to keep the public afraid in order to keep America's War Business booming.

It is time to admit that the United Nations can't do the job, that the Charter with its UN Security Council is a profound, proven failure. The Constitution for the Federation of Earth (aka Earth Constitution) is a blueprint based upon democratic world federalist principles. Unlike the obsolete UN Charter, the EC gives real voting rights to 188 nations now denied that right. A World Parliament is being formed with a House of Nations and a House of Peoples. World legislation coupled with a well thought out World Judiciary system with enforcement is part of the "new UN" in the making.

Will the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, or San Francisco Chronicle begin the process of educating the public? Surely world peace and justice deserve as much attention as wars, the stock market and crime.

The sickening silence behind the slaughter of the children of Gaza

Anatomy of a Genocide [Western Complicity & Moral Collapse]

ROSS MACKAY & LYNNE MACFADGEN    Savage Minds

EXCERPTS [WITH SUBHEADLINES ADDED BY DWF NEWS EDITOR]

There is no shortage of things that should astonish us about the West’s indifference to Israel’s genocide in Gaza, but the treatment of children stands apart. ... the death of a child is rightly understood as the most shattering loss from which families often never fully recover. And yet, when Palestinian children are killed, maimed, starved, orphaned, displaced, detained, or psychologically traumatized in the tens of thousands, this supposedly deeply-ingrained instinct no longer obtains. ...

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, in her reports on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, has described this structural erasure as the “unchilding” of Palestinian children— ... Anatomy of a Genocide, documents how mass death, starvation, displacement, detention, and psychological trauma function as part of a deliberate and systematic assault on the conditions necessary for children’s survival and development, threatening the very possibility of a Palestinian future and their right to self-determination.

Western Complicity and Moral Collapse

The brutal murder of Hind Rajab was never an isolated atrocity. ... there are “tens of thousands of Hind Rajabs” in Gaza—children whose names will never be recognized, but whose undocumented suffering is the very foundation of this assault on Palestinian childhood. While we may show fleeting sympathy for the few children whose stories break through to the outside world, countless others disappear without witness, memorial, or public reckoning. It is this exact silence that allows the machinery to keep moving. We look away when the news cycle shifts, but as Khouri notes: “Our forgetting is not innocent. ...

The West not only looks the other way, but also helps Israel murder the children

None of this is to deny the suffering of children in other war zones—including Sudan, Yemen, Congo—where violence against civilians persists amid profound international indifference. Gaza, however, occupies a distinct place within Western political life. Israel is not an isolated or marginal actor; it is armed, funded, diplomatically protected, and rhetorically defended by the very governments that most loudly proclaim their commitment to human rights, international law, and the protection of children. Yet these high-minded principles collapse with startling ease in the case of Palestinians.

More concerning still, this extraordinary deference to Israel has increasingly been accompanied by efforts at home to curtail civil liberties, suppress protest, ... The pain and suffering of these young victims are not simply ignored; they are justified, normalized, and often suppressed from public view to preserve a strategic alliance with a rogue [i.e., criminal] regime. Through this domestic enforcement, citizens in North America and Europe become not merely observers of these crimes against Palestinian children, but accomplices—...

To maintain their facade of moral enlightenment, Western societies do not simply fail to respond; with the aid of complicit media, they have learned how to “forget” while the killing continues. ... We witness the slaughter, mutilation, and starvation of Palestinian children as if it were no more than an unsettling news story—shocking to look at, but detached from any claim upon our conscience or sense of compassion. ...

We are all God's children (unless you are Palestinian, or Sudanese, or ....)

Our complicity and failure to act force a disturbing question upon us: how will we explain to our own children that we stood by and watched the “slow erasure of a people“ through the annihilation of its children?

People of Conscience no more

James Baldwin articulated a moral truth that speaks directly to this situation: “The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.”   READ MORE

We extend our full solidarity and condolences to the Venezuelan people as they grapple with the human tragedy caused by the twin earthquakes of June 24, 2026. We applaud emergency aid to rescue those under the rubble and meet the needs of the living victims.

This natural disaster comes on top of the U.S. invasion and kidnapping of the president in January, several months of extrajudicial killings in Venezuela’s territorial waters, years of deadly U.S. sanctions, and the theft of Venezuela’s assets overseas.

In order to allow Venezuela to rebuild and recover from this disaster, we demand that the United States:

Fully and permanently lift all sanctions on Venezuela;

Return Venezuela’s oil revenues to the Venezuelan government;

Unfreeze all of Venezuela’s overseas assets—including billions in gold and other currencies held at the Bank of England and elsewhere;

Free President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores from the U.S. jail where they are being illegally held as political prisoners; and

Refrain from using disaster relief as an excuse for military occupation.

Ice Detention Centers

Grassroots Resistance Forces a Retreat

As the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency rapidly expands its carceral powers, immigrant detention centers around the United States have been facing relentless public scrutiny. It appears the pressure campaigns are finally having an impact as some centers are shutting down. While this doesn’t mean the Trump administration’s draconian anti-immigrant agenda is winding down anytime soon, it signals the importance of sustaining grassroots opposition.

Cruelty, another form of US government's moral depravity

The cruelty appears to be the point. “We’re seeing a huge increase in people who are detained without criminal records, of people who are detained while they have ongoing cases where they’ve been appearing for every ICE check-in, for every court appearance,” added Marandett.

Between legal challenges based on zoning laws and environmental protections, public protests on the outside, and resistance from the inside, ICE is finding out firsthand the immense challenges of detaining a huge number of people in warehouses. Across the nation, strong public pressure against detention centers is bearing fruit. ...

After spending a billion dollars of taxpayer money buying 11 warehouses for detention, ICE is now reportedly selling seven of the structures in what The New York Times called “a major turnabout,” ...

Right-wing commentators credited public protest for the move to offload the warehouses. According to John Fabbricatore, a former Trump official, “the left was able to throw up immediate roadblocks” to the expansion of immigrant detention, he told the Times. Detention Watch Network, a national coalition aimed at ending immigrant detention, says the development “is a direct result of community organizing.” READ MORE

Trump's power of the pardon: Dancing all the way to the bank $.

The Imperial Pen: Rescuing the Pardon Power from Absolute Abuse

Robert A. Rees

By pardoning loyalists ... Trump effectively signaled to subordinates that criminal behavior undertaken in his service would be completely immunized. This is the exact nightmare scenario the Framers feared: a president utilizing the pardon power to obstruct justice, silence witnesses, and shield his own circle from the consequences of their corruption.

The survival of our constitutional democracy demands that we confront this vulnerability. An unfettered executive privilege that allows a single individual to overrule juries, nullify prosecutors, and reward personal allies is incompatible with the foundational principle that no one is above the law.

***** ***** ***** *****

When Alexander Hamilton defended the presidential pardon in Federalist No. 74, he envisioned a tool of ultimate mercy and political stabilization. He argued that a single executive could dispense clemency with a nimble compassion that a fractured legislature never could, offering a vital safety valve to correct judicial errors and heal national wounds. Yet, Hamilton also issued a modern-day warning: if the presidency fell to a man of "unprincipled ambition," this unrestricted power could mutate into a vehicle for corruption.

Centuries later, that warning has transformed into a constitutional crisis. The absolute nature of Article II, Section 2, which allows the commander-in-chief to wipe away federal convictions with the stroke of a pen, has been perverted from an act of grace into an instrument of cronyism.

To be fair, the weaponization of the pardon did not begin yesterday. While the Founders intended the power for exceptional humanitarian cases, previous presidents have frequently succumbed to political temptation. In 1974, Gerald Ford shattered public trust by granting a preemptive pardon to Richard Nixon, insulating the former president from Watergate prosecutions and setting a dangerous precedent that the highest official is above the law. Decades later, on his very last day in office in 2001, Bill Clinton sparked a fierce bipartisan backlash by pardoning Marc Rich, a wealthy, fugitive financier whose ex-wife happened to be a major Democratic donor. George W. Bush commuted the sentence of his administration’s own Scooter Libby, and more recently, Joe Biden crossed a deeply fraught ethical line by granting a sweeping, preemptive pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, after repeatedly promising he would not.

"The Framers gave the president the power of mercy to serve the public good, not to establish a parallel justice system for the powerful and the loyal."

Yet, while past presidents occasionally bent the rules for personal or political expedience, Donald Trump has utterly shattered the mechanism. His administration has not merely misused the pardon; it has industrialized its abuse, systematically dismantling the Department of Justice’s traditional review process in favor of a rogue pipeline fueled by personal loyalty, financial influence, and political theater.

Criminal behavior completely "immunized" by Presidential pardon

Where historic abuses were episodic, Trump’s clemency strategy represents a structural assault on the rule of law. He has turned the pardon into a transactional reward for political co-conspirators. By pardoning loyalists like Paul Manafort, Roger Stone, Steve Bannon, and Charles Kushner (his son-in-law’s father), Trump effectively signaled to subordinates that criminal behavior undertaken in his service would be completely immunized. This is the exact nightmare scenario the Framers feared: a president utilizing the pardon power to obstruct justice, silence witnesses, and shield his own circle from the consequences of their corruption.

Furthermore, the sheer audacity of Trump’s recent clemency actions has fundamentally altered the American judicial landscape. His blanket pardon of more than 1,500 defendants involved in the January 6th Capitol attack effectively legitimized political violence and subversion against the United States. Simultaneously, his pen has become a shield for staggering white-collar criminality.

Trump has pardoned or commuted the sentences of notorious fraudsters, multi-million-dollar tax evaders, and corporate executives. Figures like Philip Esformes, who orchestrated a massive $1.3 billion Medicare fraud scheme, and cryptocurrency billionaire Changpeng Zhao, convicted of facilitating illicit transactions for terrorist groups, saw their punishments dissolved. When a president routinely forgives massive financial crimes that carry hundreds of millions of dollars in penalties, the message to the public is clear: equity before the law is an illusion, provided your pockets are deep enough or your politics align with the White House.

One of the most egregious examples of the abuse of the pardon was Trump’s issuing a full and complete pardon to former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, who had been serving a 45-year federal prison sentence for smuggling 400 tons of Cocaine into the United States—at a time when Trump had also ordered the destruction of small boats in the Caribbean and Western Pacific accused of drug trafficking, without a shred of evidence to date.

The survival of our constitutional democracy demands that we confront this vulnerability. An unfettered executive privilege that allows a single individual to overrule juries, nullify prosecutors, and reward personal allies is incompatible with the foundational principle that no one is above the law.

Because the pardon power is written explicitly into Article II, reining it in requires aggressive action. Congress must pursue a constitutional amendment to explicitly prohibit self-pardons, preemptive pardons for immediate family members, and clemency for co-conspirators in cases where the president is a subject of investigation. Until then, the American electorate must treat the abuse of this sacred mercy as a disqualifying breach of public trust. We can no longer afford to watch the ultimate instrument of justice be used to dismantle justice itself.

World federalist movement for world peace and a "new UN" goes unreported by major media

Why the Commercial Mass Media Reports War but Not Peace

David Adams        Transcend Media Service

... “the commercial mass media is filled with stories about wars and the threat of wars around the world and they are not reporting news for peace.’” Why is this?

When I wrote my History of the Culture of War almost 20 years ago, it seemed that the answer was simple. The state itself had become the culture of war, and to justify this culture, they used the commercial mass media to convince their voters that they had a foreign enemy against which it was necessary to prepare for war.

Today, this remains evident in countries where the mass media is directly controlled by the state, for example, Russia and China.

In the United States when it was waging the Vietnam War, the CIA embedded agents in all the major mass media to make sure they maintained that Vietnam was an enemy that needed to be attacked. This was revealed In 1975 and 1976 when the US Senate held hearings presided by Senator Frank Church. ...

Can't fix STUPID: EU prefers preparation for war rather than peace and friendship with Russia

Are Europe's Leaders Ignorant -- or Are They Lying?

Jan Oberg, PhD    Transcend Media Service

EXCERPTS

No study has ever shown that military spending outperforms civilian investment.

European leaders now speak openly about transforming Europe’s economy into a war economy. This is not a metaphor. It is the stated ambition of governments, EU commissioners, and NATO officials. Denmark’s DIIS writes explicitly that Europe must “prepare for a wartime economy,” and similar language appears in speeches from Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, Helsinki, and Brussels. The political narrative is clear: rearmament is not only necessary for security, it is also good for jobs, innovation, and growth.

But when examined through the lens of economics rather than geopolitics, this narrative collapses immediately.

For more than fifty years, peace‑economics researchers such as Seymour Melman, Emile Benoit, Mary Kaldor, and Lloyd J. Dumas demonstrated that military spending delivers lower economic returns than civilian investment. Their work showed that weapons production is structurally low‑employment, low‑consumption, and low‑multiplier. A euro spent on health care, education, infrastructure, culture, or green transition produces more jobs, more income, and more domestic demand than a euro spent on weapons. ...

Even more troubling is the forgotten history of conversion. In the 1980s, serious studies — including a major UN project led by Sweden’s Inga Thorsson — demonstrated that military industries could be converted to civilian production with far greater economic and social returns. Conversion was technically feasible and economically rational. Today, Europe is doing the opposite: converting civilian production into military production. ...   READ MORE
