Hello Da Vinci Connect Families,
Happy Veteran's Day and thank you to every service member in our community for your service!
We also want to wish everyone who celebrates a Happy Diwali! We found this awesome lesson plan from the Immigrant History Initiative + MaistoryBook based on this read loud of Binny's Diwali by Thrity Umrigar!
Our staff spent yesterday's Professional Development Day with our Connect HS peers diving into program-wide data and drafting Chapter 3 of our WASC report. If you don't know, WASC is the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, which is a world renowned accreditation organization for schools. Accreditation means a school is focused on setting a mission and goals for its learners. The school is student-oriented and examines student performance continuously, accepting objective evaluation from a team of outside peer professionals trained by ACS WASC. The school also maintains a qualified faculty within an effectively organized school, and it collaboratively assesses the quality of its educational programs on a regular basis, making plans for the future.
We are proud to be a K-12 WASC accredited program! This year we are in our self-study year, which means we are spending the year reviewing our practices, gathering feedback from all stakeholders, and presenting our program to a panel of WASC visitors during a 3 day visit in May, who will then share with us our continued accreditation status and any action items we may need to reflect on further to ensure the success of our program. If this is of interest to you, we will spend a little time discussing WASC during our next Parent Advisory Committee meeting in December!
Enjoy the Long Weekend and we can't wait to see you at the Fall Festival on Wednesday!
