PICTURE OF THE WEEK
ARTICLE OF THE WEEK
Students in Mrs. Berkowitz's and Mrs. Natanov's class have been learning about their power to choose through the program "What should Danny Do" by Dganit and Adir Levy. The teachers have been working closely with the authors (and are even featured on their Instagram page) as well as our psychology team to tailor fit the program to YHT students. The children are presented with real life scenarios that their new character, Danny, is confronted with. Students help decide what choices Danny can make and learn about possible consequences for his actions. Danny is reminded to use his superpower to choose and make good decisions. Students are able to internalize that each choice we make brings about different outcomes that affect both ourselves and others.
WELCOME TO RABBI EHRENFELD
FOR THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR
We are excited to announce that Rabbi Etan Ehrenfeld will be joining the Yeshiva Har Torah educational leadership team, for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year, as our new assistant principal of the middle school. This culminates an extensive nationwide search and thorough interview process, which included both lay and professional input. Rabbi Ehrenfeld brings a great deal of relevant experience in Jewish education and administration and identifies fully with our philosophy and mission. He currently serves as Dean of Students at HANC High School, where he also teaches both Jewish and General Studies. Previously, he served as Student Activities Director at Ida Crown Jewish Academy and was a Fellow in the Yeshiva University Torah MiTzion Kollel in Chicago. Rabbi Ehrenfeld is pursuing his doctorate at Azrieli Graduate School of Education after having received semicha from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University. We are confident that the YHT community will be impressed by Rabbi Ehrenfeld’s warmth, enthusiasm, knowledge of and insights into educational issues and love for children. We look forward to the talent and vision he is sure to bring.

Hello! My name is Emily (Feldman) Hirschhorn (YHT '06) and I am a fourth year doctoral candidate at Long Island University Post's clinical psychology doctoral program.

I am seeking participants for my doctoral dissertation, examining parents' views of medical-behavioral treatment for children with encopresis (poop accidents). Note: Your child does not need to have this problem for you to participate. Your participation involves completion of surveys, reading a treatment description, and answering questions about the treatment. It is estimated to take approximately 20 minutes of your time, and you will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for one of multiple $25 to Amazon.com when you are finished. Parents of at least one child between the ages of 4-8 are eligible to participate. Two parents of same child are eligible! Your participation is greatly appreciated!
