Readings:
Luke 1:46b-55
Micah 4:1-5
Ephesians 2:11-22

Do you realize Mary (Jesus’ mom) partook in Advent as well? The angel Gabriel informed her of God’s plan, “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”

Mary visits with Elizabeth (Mother of John the Baptist) during both their pregnancies, her time of advent, and finds herself actively waiting for Jesus’ arrival by saturating her heart with the Word of God. In Luke 1:46b-55, Mary is speaking with Joy to Elizabeth and is reciting the covenant promises of God.

Maybe today your time of advent can be invested in learning of God’s covenant to us and follow up with an expression of gratitude towards Him for always keeping His promises to us, regardless of our broken promises to Him (Link to Covenant Video). Or perhaps you may want to recite the Lord's Prayer, petition by petition and think how you would describe the meaning to a 1st grader?

Why wait until three days from now on Christmas day to rejoice? We have reason to rejoice our Savior and his second coming every day!
