AN EXCELLENT PATH

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And, endurance develops strength of character,
and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Romans 5:3-5

I like the phrase "All who wander are not lost." Having spent many times on road trips across this beautiful country of ours, my husband and I certainly wandered, but were not lost. Even if we did get lost, the wandering was certainly worthwhile. No experience was wasted. And, so it is with God. He does not waste any experiences we may have.
Often, I have had experiences where I have wondered how God could possibly make any good use out of them. But, eventually, God finds a way to make those experiences good for His purposes. When that happens, I think back to an experience, good or bad, and feel the warmth of God's love permeating that experience with a new purpose and setting. Then, I just sit back and smile!

God often sets a path before us. In the Scripture above, the path seems to go in one direction, then another and then another. However, when you take an overview of the path, it leads directly to God's love for us. What could be more beautiful than that?
When we are on the path, it can be difficult to see which way the path is going. As believers, we know that it is Ok to not be able to see which way the path is going. We know that when we follow God, the path leads to His love. And, so it is now, with all the difficulties that are happening. The path may not be clear, but we know that as we develop endurance from the trials we experience, that we will develop a strengthened character that leads to hope, and hope to His love.

Precious Lord,
Thank you for reminding us of the good you can do regardless of how difficult our trials are. Thank you that you are developing within us: endurance, strength of character, hope and love. Amen
