A NEW WORLD?

"Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth,
and no one will even think about the old ones anymore."
Isaiah 65:17

The pandemic that we are living through is making like life look like it will be different afterward. Perhaps the whole earth will be just a little different after the pandemic is over. There are some indications that can be seen already. The pollution in the waters of Venice have cleared remarkably. The air pollution around Los Angeles is decreased. Wildlife is prospering. Even the crust of the Earth has settled a bit due to the large decrease in the vibrations caused by mass transit!

There are many questions that abound. Will these good changes continue after we resume "normal life" again? Will life really be "normal" again? Will we need to keep a mask handy in case the pandemic rises again in the Fall? How many people will continue to work from home? Will schools have fewer students in each classroom? Will scientists around the world be better able to combat future diseases?

It is quite likely that some things will be different and possibly forever changed. However, this is not the first time that a major change has happened in this world and is probably not going to be the last. And much like that long-forgotten hand crank wringer on an early washing machine or pagers from the 1980's, there will be things that will be forgotten and never thought about again.

Current restrictions are scheduled to start being eased soon. It is a hopeful sign of the beginning of a new future. And, we are reassured that God is already there as He is the one who is the Creator.

Let us pray:
Creator God, You work in mysterious ways! You always cause "everything to work together for the good of those who love God" (Rom 8:28). Thank you for all the good that you will provide in the future. Amen.
