GOD IS IN CONTROL

For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel:
"In returning and rest you shall be saved;
    in quietness and in trust shall be your strength."
Isaiah 30:15

Brothers and Sisters...God is in control - not just a little bit in control, but completely in control. He controls everything. Not just some things...everything. It's just a fact - He rules!

I don't know about you, but it gives me a sense of peace when I realize that I am not in charge of my life. I am, of course, responsible to my life, but I don't have the power to dictate the events in my life any more than I have the power to make the earth spin or the moon and stars appear at night. But I do have the responsibility to enter into a partnership with God about my life.

In this partnership I have the responsibility to daily seek His guidance and wisdom. And I have the responsibility to live my days keeping in mind the principles He has given me in Scripture.

The fact that God is in control actually gives me a sense of peace. This peace comes because I have faith in Him. Guys, He has a good track record. As I look back over my life, I can see time after time when He has protected, comforted, healed and guided me. I like it that He knows more than I do. That gives me comfort - I don't have to worry about trying to figure out everything. He's got it!

Right now, during this time of fear and uncertainty, we need to hold on to the fact that God is in control. We don't know what tomorrow holds. We don't know when this pandemic will end. But we do know that God is here with each of us during this time, and He will bring us out on the other side. We may have no idea what the future will look like, but as long as He is with us - we don't need to worry. No matter what the future holds, we can hold on to the proven fact that God holds the future!

I'd like to close with "The Prayer for Protection" written during the Second World War by James Freeman, a pastor, poet, and lecturer.

The light of God surrounds me;
The love of God enfolds me;
The power of God protects me;
The presence of God watches over me.
Wherever I am, God is!
Amen.
