THE SPIRIT CANNOT BE CONQUERED
"For the Spirit of God has made me,
and the breath of the Almighty gives me life."
Job 33:4
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity,
but of power, love and self-discipline."
2 Timothy 1:7
A number of months ago, I had the privilege of providing transportation to and from the Fox Chase Cancer Center for a dear friend (who is doing well). While I was there, I wandered around a bit and came across their chapel. It's quite lovely and has a wonderful variety of soul-soothing and helpful items. One of those items was a "Booklet of Prayers"; which contained prayers from different religions and for situations pertinent to cancer patients. On the page just before the first page of prayers, there was written, "Cancer Is So Limited". It had no author. As I read it again recently, I felt it spoke to our current circumstances. And so, I present it here, hopefully with the unknown author's permission; and retitled.
Covid-19 Is So Limited
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot invade the soul.
It cannot steal eternal life.
It cannot conquer the spirit.
Covid-19 is so limited!
Let us pray:
Father God,
Thank you so much for your Spirit that dwells within us. Through your Spirit, we have love, power, self-discipline and life!
Amen
