BE A WITNESS
In Matthew 28:18 Jesus tells his disciples,
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
Some have called this the “great commission.” Others think it is only the “great suggestion.” Either way, since these were some of the last words that Jesus spoke before He left earth, they must be especially important.
If I asked people that say they are Christians if they ever witness or if they ever shared their faith with someone, the answer they give might surprise you. Most Christians never witness, and most have never won anyone to the Lord.
Do you know what the fastest growing religion in the U.S. is? The answer might surprise you. It isn’t Christianity. Statistics say it is Wicca, which is a form of “witchcraft.” Surprised? You shouldn’t be. There are so many that go to church that don’t even know what their church believes.
I have seen Christians copy social media posts that are posted by known cults. Do you know what a cult is? Do you know what the cults believe? Most have never been taught, not in the Church and not anywhere else. For you to know the counterfeit, you must know the real. I am not sharing this information to bring any condemnation. I want those that read this to wake up and learn truth.
Young people can tell you the names of musicians, football players, basketball and baseball players and give you statistics, but many don’t know anything about the Bible. We have raised several generations of Biblically illiterate youth. This is sad, because eventually these are the people that are going to run this nation and make decisions for those of us that are “older.” How can they run a nation without godly principles or no respect for Biblical values if they haven’t learned them?
The ungodly German leader named Hitler knew that if he could get the youth on “his team”, and train them, and get commitment from them, that he would control them and the future. That is exactly what he did. The Bible teaches us In Proverbs 22:6, that if we
“train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
I know the opposite holds true also. I remember speaking to a young mother once about getting back into church and getting her children into church and Sunday School. Her response was that “she came back, and they would too.” I said to her “you have something to come back to, they don’t.” My answered seemed to impress her because soon after that they went to a church.
Do we want to take America back for Jesus? Then, it must start in the home. Do not neglect your responsibility as a parent or grandparent to teach your youth. Be the one to share Christ with them. Here is an easy way to share Christ with the young and old alike. Ask that young person or older that doesn’t know Jesus this simple question. “If you had contracted Covid19 and died, do you know for sure that you would go to Heaven?” If they say yes, then ask them what would be the reason that God would let them in. If they answer with anything other than they received Jesus as Savior, then you know they aren’t saved. Then tell them, “sorry that won’t get you in.” Then say, “if you could know for sure you would go to heaven you’d want to know, right?” If they say “yes”, then share I John 5:13 which says
, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (Jesus.)
Then, say to them, “let’s pray and make sure you go to heaven.” Pray something like this and get them to repeat what you say. “Lord Jesus, I know that if I died today that I wouldn’t go to heaven because I have sinned. I am sorry for my sin. Please forgive me of my sin. I ask you to wash my sin away with your blood and take over my life. I believe that you are God in the flesh, that you came to earth, lived, and was crucified on the Cross. I believe that you died and rose again and that you are coming back again. I thank you for saving me. Amen”
Witnessing isn’t hard unless you make it hard. It simply is telling others about Jesus, the one that loves you most of all. We can take back our nation one soul at a time, and it can start with you.
