One of the hardest places to be is in the hallway, waiting for a door to open but the other door has shut. Oftentimes it is a very lonely place. You often may not even feel the Lord is there with you.
God uses these times to draw us closer to him, even if we do not feel his presence. It is in these hours that our faith is stretched, and we become totally dependent upon Him. We feel stripped of everything that matters. Oftentimes, we have suffered great loss when we are in this place.
Perhaps you are there this very moment. Maybe a loved one has died, and you don’t know what to do, and you question if you have the strength to go forward. Perhaps you have lost a job and you are waiting for another job to come. Your finances can be gone, and this can lead to depression.
Whatever the situation may be in your life, I do know this: Jesus said he would never leave us or forsake us. He alone is provider. He alone brings joy. He alone brings peace. He alone is the source of love. Perhaps you are in this place because you have depended upon yourself instead of God. If that is the case, then I suggest that you ask God to forgive you. He is as close as the mention of his name.
In this transition place one often wants to quit on life. This is exactly what Satan wants you to do. He will tell you that you are a failure, and that no one would care if you ceased to exist. He may even tempt you to “end it all” and be out of your misery. No, my friend, this is not the time to quit. God is allowing this time for you to come to Him and receive your strength from Him. He has a plan, and knows exactly what you need, when you need it, and where it will lead.
The Apostle Paul tried to go in several directions thinking it was the right way, but the Holy Spirit stopped him each time. There was a plan, but God had to put all the pieces together, in his timing for it to all come together the right way. Think about Jesus, he had to wait until the right time for his ministry to start, but it started with another preacher named John. Then there was the wilderness experience where he hungered and was tempted by Satan. All of this had to take place so he could understand the suffering we go through! He knows what it is like to be in the place you are in and will safely help you through this season of your life.
So, just breathe and say the name “Jesus”, and let Him help you through this period of being in the hallway. He is as close as the mention of his name! Be blessed to be a blessing
