The challenge that Jesus gives us this weekend is a challenge to buck the system. Jesus' says that the two measly coins given by the widow was more generous the large sums given by the rich. It is a challenge to take the scales from our eyes and judge life differently…not in terms of dollars and cents, or stocks and bonds.
How do we measure our lives? What standards are we using? Are we using the standards of love to measure life? What would happen if we began to measure our lives by the acts of love that filled it? Would we find ourselves "rich" or "poor"?
God Bless,
Fr. Keith
