Beloved, as we move toward being able to worship on campus, we continue to adjust in ways to help us find a pace that is predictable, sustainable, and focused on preparing for when we will return. Even then, it will not be back to the same as before.
In the second week of March, we had to immediately jump into the deep water of not being on campus. We have done great things such as the recorded Upper Room devotional and daily updates. We have now begun to catch our breath, see a bit more clearly to what is ahead, and reorient the time and energy of our lay leadership, volunteers, and staff toward what is next. These are some of the things happening:
- The Church Council is now meeting every Monday night to plan for when we are able to have worship on campus. To be clear, the planning is comprehensive and the implementation is consuming. Updates will be shared, as they are available.
- Beginning next week, we will resume to a weekly newsletter update. The regular publication will be on Wednesday.
- The recorded Upper Room devotions will end with the first week in June, as we turn efforts toward reopening. This has been a nice measure of comfort as we grappled to respond early on, and hopefully folks that were not in the habit of a daily devotion time have been encouraged in that way. Upper Room daily devotions continue to be available online at:
Everyone in our community of faith has done a fine job of rallying together in amazing ways. In some ways, it seems the congregation has grown closer and stronger, despite the separation. There is so much to do to prepare for a successful and safe reopening for worship.
Therefore, I ask your prayers for our lay leadership, volunteers, and staff in decision-making, planning, and implementation. I pray all we do will bring glory to God.
Peace and Grace,
