I'm home! The rehab facility was great. Everybody was kind; the therapists, knowing I was there to work, did wonders; the nurses and other staff were gentle healers. Medicare and Aetna let me know on Friday (!) that my last day would be Sunday (yesterday), and I'd need to vacate by noon the next day (today). An appeal was possible, though unlikely to succeed. I tried, no luck. Today I had my follow up with the surgeon's PA-- all's well, staples out, no more dressing, X-ray confirming the continued existence of my pelvis along with the new metal hip.
Home is sweet home, made safer by the work of my son David, who has done wonders. This introvert is bathing in the first quiet solitude in half a month. Slow, steady, mindful. No need to rush anything.
